Water circulation question

Run a decent external filter, but have the return to the tank run through a spray bar back into the tank. That spreads out any current, but still lets you keep up a decent filter throughput.

The fish dont mind a gentle current, just not the full-on output from a big filter.

I have two outlets into my discus tank, either has a spray bar. One puts out 1000lph and the other 1200 lph. The discus don't seem to mind it at all and occassionally hang under them being buffeted around.

Its good at feeding time - spreads the bloodworms throughout the tank so there is no scrapping over the cubes! :D

yopu could also remove the spray bar and point the outlet into the corner, just make sure it won't push the water over the edge.

We have done this before and it has worked to good effect.

Alternativly point it at some rocks or driftwood, so it spreads the current out.
