snookie
how large is it ? you could always silocone a large piece of glass onto it and bury in the Substrate so glass is not visible
henward
well i wont need the wood for 6 months at least so ill leave it there for a few months to keep absorbing the water. and let all the tannin come out its a huge piece,

camnbron
Drill some holes in it and wack some sinkers into the holes to weigh it down! Seriously though, some wood absorbs water faster than others, are you sure your piece of driftwood will be suitable? It could have been floating in the ocean for years and years
Caryl
It differs from almost instant to years  If it isn't too big, try boiling it in water with baking soda added. Rinse well afterwards. Someone claimed the baking soda helps release the air bubbles trapped in the wood. Don't know if this is so and I have never tried it. henward
its large well, what ill do then is just leave it there for months see how we go i mean i have months, and the tank i just purchased comes iwth 4 massive pieces, one apprently 4 foot long warren said. so if those are nice then ill just use those but htis one really adds character. if it doesnt sink then its ok ll cut my losses and put it in the garden:D or ill consider tying weights to it:D
