frogs and aquatic snails

hey all

would frogs eat aquatic snails?

past few days ive had a bit of an algae problem and i thought a few snails would clear this up

but would the snails get eaten???

i dont ming if they do its like free frog food :bounce:

I doubt they would bother with them.

my frogs never ate the pond snails in their tank.

I guess that they are to small and slow, + they live under the water and frogs are not good at catching things under water.

I have daphnia and pond snails with my tank. The water is always clear.

so the frog wont try and eat the snails?

what about if they come out of the water

I can guarantee you that a frog can eat a snail. Unusual for them to predate them totally as more often than not, more favourable foods come first. But if the frog is plenty bigger than the snail it will eat it. I used to feed ramshorn snails to golden bell frogs all the time.

I used to feed ramshorn snails to golden bell frogs all the time, they were meant to help combat algae also, but when the frogs noticed them... all over.
