Move fish or move tank?

Recommended Posts

I'm speaking here of my two 29 gallon tanks. One has goldfish and ottos, the other has barbs and red eye tetras. Goldies are downstairs in my apartment, others are upstairs.

I would like to do a switch but what would you recommend would be the best way.

A) Drain tanks really low; keep fish in present tanks and move entire tanks

B) Move fish only

Any and all ideas would be appreciated :bow::bow:

CONGRATULATIONS BOFFY :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Boy or girl, name, size...how are you and baby feeling?

Thanks for the advice folks, I thought that would be best to move entire tanks...but thought I'd check...just in case I could move fishies would have been much easier on back :(

  • 3 weeks later...

buy some more buckets

and just do a 50% water change on both except keep water in buckets.

then put the fish in buckets with tankwater running airstones

then empty tanks wash everything except filter then put the goldies filter on new tank and other filter on other tank. then put the water you saved (maybe 50%) into new goldies tank and the other water into other tank then refill the rest and transfer fish. done

Thanks for the help :bow::bow:

They are now changed. I transferred everything except the gravel. I did put the gravel in buckets and gave a cleaning with running water. The only thing I forgot to do was to wipe out the tanks :oops: :oops: Anyway, goldies & ottos are fine. I did loose one tiger barb but have no idea if the move had anything to do with it.
