Clintrockevans
Not sure if my starlight is sick or if this is normal, on the side of it are a couple of what look like white mouldy patches. It isnt white spot, the spots are quite big, does anyone know what this is?
Caryl
I don't know what a starlight is but a white mouldy patch sounds like a secondary fungal infection. Possibly the fish has injured itself.
peanuts
sounds like it could be a fungal infection of some sort - if so this would need to be treated - any chance that you could get a picture so that it can be identfied correctly and get the correct treatment. bdspider
White spot is different from fungi. It is little white dots that look like salt grains. So if your plec has white patches, white spot treatment won't help.
Caryl
bd's right. A fungal infection is not the same as white spot. You fish does not sound like it has white spot.
peanuts
I would suggest "googling" to see if you can come across the infection that you have - most sights that idenfy the fungal infection will also give you information on how to treat.
