What size tank would be good for spawning Siamese Fighters?

Would a 24cm x 24cm x 15cm tank do?

i bred mine in a 24L tank without issues, as long as mum has somewhere to hide once they are done.

It'll be fine. Put some plants in 1 end of the tank for the female to hide after spawning and get it out immediately after spawning.

Could they be spawned in planted tank or is barebottom best?

bare bottom is betst coz the male can clearly see his eggs when they fall

Would i need a heater if the tank was sitting right next to a 28 degree tank and had poly right round it apart from the side that is touching the other tank? And it will be in a cupboard or a wooden cabinet.

i got a fat female today and is sitting in a floating multi hatchery so the male can see her. The male has 2 bubblenests and he is swiming around the sides of the hatchery and flaring heaps. What do i do next?

its not a bare bottom tank and it has a internal filter should i wait until i can setup another tank and get a sponge filter?

i cleaned the tank yesterday cos it had heaps and heaps of algae but now its spotless. The male has now built another bubble nest should i add the female now? And do i need a light on during spawning? Im trying to make the algae stay away so im doing a 5day blackout.

I have just released the female into the tank with the male. He is just following her round flaring. no attacking or anything is this normal/ok? and when will they spawn?

It's called foreplay dixon and important (take note all you males). They will spawn when she is ready. 8)

I caught the female last night and put her back in the floatin hatchery, just in case he attacked her in the night. she looks a bit skinnier now but no eggs in the nest :-? Should i condition her up again and try again in a few days?

Not sure if siamese fighters are the same... But when my gourami's spawned i couldnt see any eggs either... I think they look exactly like the tiny bubbles that make the nest. The first time I realized I had babies was when there was little tails hanging out of the nest lolz. Not alot of help but I guess what im saying is maybe they have spawned?

i dont think they spawned unless they do the whole thing in like 5-10 mins cos i was checking on them very frequently. Will the male add to the bubble nest when there are eggs in there?

he will chase her a bit and then swim back under the bubble nest and wait for her (this will happen a few times).

if she doesn't go to him, shes not ready

Well at one stage last night i stayed out of the room for about 20 mins and then cam in and the females was on the opposite side of the tank and the male was at the nest. Could they have bred in 20mins? And how do i tell if they have?

Takes longer than that. Just leave them alone and they'll do it.

I had a pair set up on friday night and they are breeding now :bounce: :bounce: .

Yes! just leave them alone so they can get use to each other and when they're ready, they'll spawn.

cool, how do i tell if they have spawned? I have read that the eggs just look like the bubbles. :-?

The male will be under the nest and constanly picking up falling eggs and blowing them back up to nest. Shine a torch at the nest and you'll see white dots in the bubble.

this morning the male is staying at the top with the nest but i dont see him piking up any falling eggs. He just keeps adding bubbles to the nest from the waters surface.
