Ira
When you get back and they're begging for food tell them to stop being whiney little brats because most fish can go weeks without food.
alanmin4304
The temptation is always to give them a bit extra in the way of food before you leave. Don't be tempted this is what kills them because the uneaten food will cause a bacterial bloom. Just feed them normally they will be fine for a few days. Ianab
Yup, just give them a normal size feed when you leave. When you get home they will be fine, but very pleased to see ya  Small fry need more regular feeding, so maybe rig up the auto feeder to give them a little food, but for adult fish a week is fine. Cheers Ian
jayci
Lots of CHCH people in this forum. Maybe one of them can fish sit for you.
SpidersWeb
Yeah as Ian said, might want to sort something out for the fry tanks, otherwise will be fine.

cichlid7
Would it be a good idea to put lots of brine shrimp in the fry tanks before i go or not.

SpidersWeb
Nope, brine shrimp doesn't last that long. Only real choices are a) ask a trustworthy person to feed the fry, b) get an autofeeder for their tank, c) just leave them to it. Putting in heaps of food just before you leave is a bad idea because it'll spoil in 24 hours, brine shrimp may take a day to die first, but after the 2nd day the water would start getting nasty. evilknieval69
Put lots of java moss into the fry tanks as they will feed off it. Brine shrimp only lasts like 4 hours or something in FW before it dies so thats not a good idea. Microworms last a few days in FW before they die so maybe put some of them in each fry tank too..... Caryl
Yes I do know where the new club is - it is on the site of the old RSA Corner of Alfred and Hutcheson Sts, on the banks of the Taylor River, that runs through the middle of town. jayci
You coul put daphnia in with the fry. The big daphnia will last a few days and they pop out baby daphnia for the fry to eat.
