Clintrockevans
I just need some advice, I was trying to get rid of my black algae by putting in flourish excel, I double dosed the water and after about an hour I noticed that 50% of my fish were gulping at the surface, so I did a water change and only 25% are gulping now.... Does anyone know whats happening???
OscarBoy
do you have something like a bubble wall in the tank to help put air in the tank? because they might just be breathing thats what i did when mine were at the top. then i added a bubble wall and they stoped
tHEcONCH
Sounds like oxygen problems - get the surface of the water moving with an airpump and stone (that will help get rid of algae too).
SpidersWeb
Yep, keep doing partial water changes until 0% are gulping.
jolliolli
when i dosed flourish excel for blackbeard i only used the single dose (probably about 6 months ago) and it worked fine. Many ppl have recommended double dosing but i noticed on the bottle that its says something like 'don't overdose, or don't double dose'. I wonder if they changed the formula and now double dosing isn't required or even harmful?
SpidersWeb
The intial dose on the bottle is a double dose, but I think some people have been double dosing the initial dose (basically quad doseage). Best to increase it slowly over time.
