alanmin4304
With stem plants I generally pinch them off a couple of leaves from the base and then replant the bunch in front of the stems. I don't trim swords. You are best to leave the young plants on the runner untill they have developed a half dozen good leaves and a strong root system. At that stage the larger of the baby plants can be carefully loosened from the runner and the smaller ones left to develop further. They can also be planted in the media if you wish (while still attatched if they have enough roots)
Dixon1990
So if a leaf has got a few big holes in it i should just leave it?
alanmin4304
With the big sword plants the outside leaves will die off. It is best to remove them as it promotes good new growth and removes a lot of nutrient that will be released if the leaves are allowed to decay. They look better as well. fishandchips
I use a pair of kitchen snips when i trim mine, it is about once a week now. Am contimplating moving to non-stem plants. A little more easier i think
bdspider
I trim my sword all the time, just chop it with scissors near the base. I do this with dead/dying leaves, when stems get too tall, when the leaves block light for other plants... and its still doing fine.
