cichlid7
couldn't find Daltons Propagating Sand anywhere in chch, so i used bedding sand from crusaders by the dump on parkhouse road 30kg bag for $
Dixon1990
is the bedding sand sharp?
HaNs
Iv just used beach sand(from the sea) it has been pre washed, but i was it again as it makes your tank cloudy Try landscape supply places
Dixon1990
If found that with beach sand it moves around to much when a fish swims over it and then it lands on all the wood plants etc and it really annoys me.

Dixon1990
yea i know but the sand i got from sumner seems to be worse than other sands i have seen in tanks.
Ira
If it moves around too much, get the sand further down the beach towards the water. It's usually coarser there. I'm sure though you can see where on the beach the sand is coarser anyway.
alanmin4304
I use river sand from portstone nurseries or courser stuff from Oderings.
fishandchips
Have you tried ITM stores or the warehouse. I got my stuff from the local ITM store, but then they do deal in water plants. Try the warehouse they may be able to order it in for you. AMAZONIAN
Hi All, Well "THE OLD WAY IS SOMETIMES THE BEST" Every time I go to CHCH I call into "NORTH END SAND AND SHINGLE" just 200 meters past the Pines. They sell what is called "BLINDING SAND" and it's the best I have found so far for plant propagation and also as a Tank substrate. Good Luck.
