Tide generator, anyone made one?

when the pump is on, it pumps the water up into the modded paper shredder bin thru the top bulkhead. the water then fills it up and goes back down the crude ( but it works :D ) durso. that little hole at the bottom of the pipe will let the water back into the tank slowly when the pump shuts off and the water goes below the durso pipe. (well from looking at the pics, thats my opinion). anyone else have a theory on this?

EDIT: sorry found the rest of the pics so i modified this post a little

It'd be easy enough, if you wanted to just put two small pumps on timers. Turn one on every 12 hours for a few minutes to pump water out of the tank to another lower tank then 12 hours later turn on a pump in the lower tank to pump it back up top.

Just have the two pumps placed so that they come out of the water before overflowing either tank and have the timers switch them off after 5 minutes or however long it normally takes them to get close.

i had a thought, its combines a couple of DIY feats but it would work awesome i reackon....

make your own background as others before have done out of styrefoam etc, and incorporate a movable section that would make the "tide" move by displacement. using a motor on a timerswitch to move the section up and down every 12 hours or whatever. bit more complex but would do the trick lol
