Dixon1990
I have 5 syerbai corys that have been in a tank with sharp gravel and they no loinger have whiskers. They are now in a tank with smooth gravel. Will they be alright? And how long will they take to grow back?
Caryl
If they have not ground down the whiskers too far they will grow back.
Foxglove
yeah they can grow back - sometimes they look a little skinny/short! Do watch for fungus though.
Dixon1990
i have just taken 3 more out of the tank with sharp gravel. the tank they were from has quite bad water quality(have just done a waterchange though) They three i just took out have no whiskers at all left and that area is quite red. What can i do to make the whiskers grow back faster?
livingart
What can i do to make the whiskers grow back faster Aftershave keep water quality up and medication to inhibit fungal growth and bacterial buildup maybe salt, TLC or similar good luck
paekakboyz
yeah I've had this problem as well - seems the smaller cory's were more likely to get damage than the bigger ones... Def seems like the whiskers are growing back although one in particular had lost them right back to the mouth and it looked nasty I've got 8-10mm Blackwater gravel in there and I hadn't thought it would be too sharp for corys... do most people keep them in tanks with a sand substrate or gravel? Janelle
I have corys with nice, long barbels on smallish rounded gravel. I wish I could have sand but seems a bit impractical for my purposes... =(
