tHEcONCH
joeblog is at this very moment researching the options - the nice nanotuners kit isn't available in 240V/50H, so it might be a matter of having to source other components locally - or else fit a standalone unit like the AquaOne. If you find something suitable post something up
land_lubber
well what I have just tried doing and it worked was fit a 250w with and external ballast but I didn't fit a piece that special glass cause I haven't got any.

tHEcONCH
Have you mounted it in the standard hood? Any problems with heat?
land_lubber
sorry no pics I'll do it again tonight after the lights go out (I use the 250 from my big tank) and get some pics.
land_lubber
Have you mounted it in the standard hood? Any problems with heat? yeah it was in the standard hood, I'm sure there will be heat issues but I have a chiller the only thing I am worried about it bleaching corals. fish-unit
conch for less than 200, you could have a 150 halide with brand new bulb in your standard hood,I am in the middle of trying to get a spare hood to mod which I will put on when the weather gets a little colder here as its still F@#kn hot here. and I dont have a chiller. I have pulled apart the hood and it would take less than a hour to do. VERY EASY. Did you end up getting that deltec?
tHEcONCH
Not yet - I'm torn between buying that, a halide, and a chiller for the RSM, or just biting the bullet and building a whole new BIGGER tank along the same lines as an RSM. I suspect the Deltec would still be fine, but the main problem is floorspace at home - I need to shut down other (freshwater) tanks before I can build a new marine one. :-? fish-unit
yeah i plan on eventually upgrading thats why I got the deltec, fits in the RSM and also will be fine for my 400 litre upgrade eventually
tHEcONCH
I like the 'all in one' nature of the RSM - its tidy, and I really like the 'false wall' at the back hiding all the junk. I think I'll try and build a bigger version, but with halides and a better skimmer, and probably a sump of some kind to ensure plenty of little critters. Fmxmatt
Have you ever seen HAZZARD's tank Conch? Approx the same size as an RSM (I think) but homemade. Looks fantastic! He's just put Halides on it and when I saw it last, it made me think my tank was a pile of crap compared to it haha
tHEcONCH
Yep, we've traded frags - its an awesome tank, and underscores how much better the basic 'all-in-one' design can be if built properly. I really like the shimmering effect the halide made.
