ryanjury
Internal - metro External - Prazi.. Although I was debating this at Mekhaela's house yesterday with Daf maybe Prazi does internal as well?
jewelz
Prazi is extremely effective for the treatment of external flukes, liver flukes, internal parasites and internal worms in both tropical and coldwater fish. Metro is an antibiotic which is often needed for secondary infections that tend to occur due to either blockage or resulting damage to the internal organs. Metro therefor should not be used as a primary treatment for parasites.
herefishiefishie
Metro is used in the aquarium industry as a treatment for internal parasites. For worms, well you can soak food in prazi, trichlorofn & garlic. The book I have states a few other drugs, but they are not available in Aussie, don't know about NZ. I use prazi for external flukes & worms. Has the added bonus of not killing filter bacteria or plants. Trichlororfon is great to. But is hard on scaleless fish. & you need to up the airation of water. Frenchy
jewelz
I stand corrected herefishiefishie Metro is aimed at flagellated parasites which reside in the gastro intestinal tract. Enteric disease from these parasites can result in systemic infections hence the effective use of metro both as a primary and secondary form of treatment. shadowfax
as a matter of interest, does anyone dose their fish on a regular basis to prevent parasites?
Caryl
NEVER add meds indiscriminately, or "just in case" to a tank. Wouldn't want the parasites etc to build up immunity to meds.
