If you have a well established, well planted, well filtered, not overstocked tank you can leave them (depending on species) for up to 10 days without food. Caryl Posted August 15, 2007 Report Share Posted August 15, 2007 I think it is more that you have to be careful what type of food you put in the auto dispensers. Flake can get damp and clump together and block the feeder. If you have someone clearing the letterbox or feeding other animals, get a pill container that divides into single days and put the right amount in each section with intructions to feed the fish from the right compartment on the right day.
