we run adults in fully planted enclosures, potting mix sand etc,

but wouldnt run young animals on same footing

potting mixes can contain bacteria and pathogens harmful to young lizards

and even humans

Also the temp you need to keep them at will dry out plants, so you will need to water more often which will raise the humidity, which will make a lovely environment for fungi and moulds that might impinge on your dragons respiratory system

In an enclosed system there is not the airflow there is in a bigger environment

as repto said on another thread, at the price they are why take the chance :-?

You could use plants like cacti, pachypodiums, etc that don't need much water.

Yeh that was one option. Was looking at native grasses as they survive in harsh conditions that are dry and windy. They would be put at the cold end of the tank

how about just keep plants in pots and disguise with rocks etc.. would be easier to maintain imo :D

i have managed to grow a couple of lithops in with my blue tounge :D

Thats was what i suggested to him

He's decided to use news paper on the bottom and see how it goes. Also a few rocks.
