nemines
how much is too mch trimming? indian fern floats well. you could even try duckweed -provided that you control it, no pruning just scooping. Cardamine lyrata and Hydrocotyle leucacephala are possible, maybe riccia or nymphaea.
Jo0sh
i dont know if you concider lillys as a floating plant but tiger lotus is a nice plant that the leaves will grow until they reach the surface and float along the top
Mal
Thanks for the ideas. Do you Nemines have any that you are willing to sell? I have Hygroryza aristata on my list but I am unsure if it is avaliable in NZ. I don't think that I will try duck weed. I would like the indian fern this sounds good. Thanks also to jo0sh I do have a tiger lotus it is only 60mm high at present so a bit of growing to do. Fully inclosed tank so I'm not sure about other lillys. We all need a trim frm now and then If I have to trim to control or for the desired afect so be it. Good to learn. If there are plant sellers that do have the above wuld wuld be good to hear from you, please PM me.

Rockerpeller
I think most of the tanks on this site would be illegal if thats the case... i know mine would be. its just about over-run with the stuff!

alanmin4304
Banana plant has floating leaves as well. The problem with floating plants is that they block the light to any other plants (if you want other plants)
