So i finaly got some ricca for my tank. I was wanting it as a floating plant for my Butterfly fish to live in but since adding it to my tank it had just blowen everywhere because of the water movement! So iv attached it to a rock with one of my hair nets. Now i was wondering if it will eventualy knit its self togeather to form a mat like thingi.. Also what can you sugest as a floating plant for my tank? Bf said it can not have roots dangling down in to the water!!!

Im hoping the ricca works out as im not keen to throw $20 away unlike my know it all bf.

I was reading on the net, and if you mix the riccia with java moss, it'll act like an anchor on driftwood. Indian fern floats but can get pretty massive.

If u want a floating plant for shelter, i recomend indian fern. I use it, its really good. I use riccia and java moss on my driftwood and it looks sweet

Hi candy,

If you have java moss, wrap it around some of your driftwood and it will stick to it in about three weeks, and if you dont want java moss with your riccia, zap the driftwood in the microwave and when cool, you can weave the riccia into the dead java moss, the riccia will love it because it now has an anchor and no competition.

Yeah Java Moss certainly does like wrapping itself round everything, including filter intakes :lol:

I no longer keep Java Moss in planted tank simply for the fact its a pain in the back side :-?
