Insect Direct
Crikey darn birds I'd never really thought of it before but makes sense. Sooo other than shooting the birds is there any way to stop them, maybe heaps of plants would be an option to atleast help give the fish a place to hide?? alanmin4304
Herons being waders would be a bit more difficult to stop I guess. Kingfishers need a perch so if you remove that they can be controlled but a heron would just wade in and have a good look around.
Alan
I knew of a breeder who put traps on top of poles to catch kingfishers. At the trout breeding facility at Rotorua, they have nylon streched above the ponds. Herons = .22 or air-rifle
bdspider
My grandparents had their pond cleaned out by a heron. Once the bird realises there are fish in the pond, they will keep coming back to it. In the end they only had bronze goldfish because they were better hidden than the orange ones.
