March 10, 200719 yr comment_151488 Hi all. I have bought a second hand Diatom filter XL and am having trouble sourcing parts and when I contacted the manufacturer (USA) they don't seem to willing to help out as they only sell to retailers. Any suggestions as I hope I haven't bought a lemon. Broadlands only have impellers! The other thing these filters used to be the bees knees but is the technology obsolete? Report
March 10, 200719 yr comment_151506 I used to have three of them but chucked them out because of the difficulty in getting parts. They were very good and would filter down below one micron with the right media. Report

March 10, 200719 yr comment_151524 definitely need to get the parts yourself from the USA www.petdiscounters.com may help... they are the only fish shop in the USA that is willing to send things out by airmail. Very helpful too. Report

March 11, 200719 yr comment_151591 The cost on those parts alone will be approx. $45NZ, then the shipping costs on top. Your choice. Report

March 12, 200719 yr comment_151704 suggest you goggle diatom filters and find their home page.I have bought replacement parts (bags, seals, impellors, etc)off their on-line store with no problems. Also I would suggest contacting your local swimming pool to see if they use (and will sell you) the diatom powder. March 12, 200719 yr comment_151747 I think the diatom powder used in swimming pool fiters is a lot more course. Report
