Matthew Posted December 31, 2003 Report Share Posted December 31, 2003 Barbs are a reasonably 'nippy' fish, but kept in large groups they seem to focus on one another, establishing their heirarchy. I'm not sure whether eight is sufficient but give it a go. just monitor your other fish, if they start to look ragged (fins nipped etc) i'd look at either removing the barbs or adding more. Extra plants might help, plus a few more neons slipped in after lights out might give them a bit of security if fear 'is' the cause for lack of colour.
