michael.qian Posted February 23, 2007 Report Share Posted February 23, 2007 I had 10 red ramshorn snails and they have destroyed all my Indian fern plants, so I had to get rid of them. Looking at those yellow apple snails, they look bright yellow and very attractive do they eat plants as well? I got those ramshorns in an attempt to control algae, it did a fair job but the sacrifice was my plants, which I wasn't prepared to make. HandS Posted February 23, 2007 Report Share Posted February 23, 2007 I was looking at getting red ramshorn snails, but if they eat plants, ill give them a miss. The yellow apple snails are really bad plant eaters, they eat almost any plant put in front of them. I know alot of people (including myself) have had "mistry snails" aka brown apple snails in planted tanks with no problems at all but i find they are not that great at eating the algae eather :roll: . The best way to control algae is to get in some Plec's, BN's or Otto's depending on what is in your tank, and the size of your tank.
