markc
Hi, Does anyone know what happened to fish'n'fangs in Wellington? I haven't been in there for a few years and it seems to have moved or closed down.
Janey
Hi markc, fins'n'fangs closed about a year ago. I believe they ran out of money, but could be wrong!
Ira
They'd really gone downhill near the end. It being practically impossible to find a parking spot within a 15 minute walk probably didn't help them much either.
markc
thanks, Ira and Janey
Dark
as i recall - the employees sat around smoking and drinking in the office most of the time, then one left the drain tap on when doing a water change and emptied all of the tanks, killing the livestock. the manager was on and off work due to health problems and finally an owner came in and took over but it was too late - i think they had problems with the baby factory next door getting flooded when they left the taps on as well. or something like that... i think the biggest challenge they had was being a pet store in the middle of town, but the more i think about it the more i would put it down to lazy staff/poor management arn't i the critic... Warren
I remember when it was one of the most impressive shops in NZ...
Dark
that almost makes me sad - especially because i lived about 5 minutes walk from it at the time.
Benny
It's a shame it closed down. Firstly because it was way more accesible for me, as opposed to going out to animates (which I would prefer not to go to anyway), and secondly because I recieved a gift voucher teh weekend before it disappeared. Dark
i think the accessability was key - because i am in the habit of purchasing one or two plants then growing a forest from those ir really did not matter where they came from. the fish is really the same although i got into breeding after they closed...
