sharn Posted January 21, 2007 Report Share Posted January 21, 2007 if hes got that little gonapoduim (sp, that little stick instead of an anal fin) then its a boy, as far as i know females cant get it at all. he may have just had is sword chewed off or be a late bloomer? The late developers are by far the bigger males - often I've thought they were going to be female and then the sword has grown. I've also heard but don't know if its really true that if there are several females in a tank and no male that one of them will change sex. Maybe they were just late developers too! PENEJANE Posted January 21, 2007 Report Share Posted January 21, 2007 I had a female sword who had fry but the male died (trio) so that female changed into a male. The anal fin develops before anything else then the tail forms its sword. So it could either of changed sex with a sword soon to follow or it could be a late developing male as they say.
