maran
I got a 5' by 2' by 2' tank recently made. The polystyrene I got for it bit smaller. About 6 cm narrower (length is fine but the width is narrow). By putting it in the middle, it give 3cm of "no polystyrene" base for the tank front and back. Is it fine to use the polystyrene like this or do i need a full size, covering all of the base for the tank to sit on? I want to set up the tank tonight if I can ( cos I just got to wellington from Gizzy and my fish will get cold if I dont ), So if any body knows, could you reply sooner please. In the meantime I am gonna fill the tank to a quater with the smaller regiform underneath and put the fish in.
Blackadder
I'd make sure the whold base has polystyrene, just put another 6cm polystyrene strip along one edge.

fishboi
should be fine and a temporary thing with it half filled. wouldn't risk it as a permit set up with that size tank and 3cm back and front is a bit much.
Alan
Don't know how you travelled your fish, or how many or what species, but if they are in chilly bins, just put a coke bottle of hot water in with them, packed away from the fish by a newspaper, replace lid. Check the air in the bags and if necessary re-do them. Check for any casualties and if there are any. Rebag the remainder in fresh water. TM
Poly would be fine. If you are still a bit concerned then cut it length ways and have the gap in the middle.
