Pearly
help i think i may have some angelfish eggs on my filter pipe and angels seem to be chasing any other fish away from the area do i need to do anything or just leave them to it. i was not really expecting any of my fish to breed anyway
quack
depends on how much you want to keep them. if you dont want them then what i do is just rub the eggs off. if you want to keep them then i would probley just leave them alone and let the parents take care of them. but because its probley there first lot of eggs they might eat them tho. i havnt bred any angels before but should be the same case as most other american cichilds hope this helps
Caryl
If they are in a community tank the eggs will probably get eaten, or the wrigglers will at least. If you do not want fry then leave them alone.
smidey
my angels lay eggs regularly, then eat them after they have guarded them for a day or so. 6 batches of eggs & no fry yet!
quack
if you want to keep them then try set something up in the tank that they can lay there eggs on and you can then remove it into its own tank and bring up the fry your self

ViSioNz_
Smidey, might I ask, how big are yours around in CM? Do you know how to tell the difference between male and female?
ViSioNz_
Crappers... I saw these tubes a while back!!!! "Don't be in a hurry. The only way to sex Angelfish, is by observation of the mating tubes, of the fish. The females tube, is about 1/8 inch long, somewhat longer than the males. The males tube, is shorter and more blunt shaped. The tubes are visible, only shortly before and during spawning. " Mine must've spawned and I never noticed :(
sharn
i have only one angel in my tank (due to it disliking every other angel i put in there!) and it always has its tube out for some reason. its quite flat so it must be a male. if they have spawned once they will spawn again so dont worry too much
Alan
Sharn, that MUST be a male to behave like that. Alan

alanmin4304
Your angel's dislike of other angels may be the sorting out of a partner. If you put it with some other mature fish they may sort themselves into a pair or more.
sharn
alan- mine was in with five other adult angels back when i kept them and he was still a bully didnt bother me too much though, im too lazy to raise fry
me love fishy
I have two angels that spawn regularly but always end up eating the eggs. I am wondering if I have two females, but I am not worried about getting fry from them as I have no intention of breeding.
