I had a gold, and he was very very anti-social! Was a great fish though, fantastic personality! Damn earthquakes...

I had a 50+ cm giant gourami die on me, thats exactly what i did! Lol if i buried it the dog would have sniffed it out & dug it up, wouldn't have been pretty...

on my first (well second but earthquake took care of the first ) aro now... lives mainly on hikari pellets with shrimp and bloodworm treats, just a basic silver but up to about 25 cm and still very orange, been such a fan for so long, so happy to finally be in a position to be able to house one

Are there jags down here again?? I had a breeding pair but traded them for a giant gourami... Big mistake lol wish i still had them! And I have a breeding pair of chocs in with an aro right now, haven't had any problems thus far!

dont they live in like uber warm water compared to standard tropical range?

i Just got home from being away for most of the weekend to find my oscars (who now seem to be a pair it appears!) busy laying eggs and fertilising them . Can anyone else whose had these breed for them give me any pointers towars the best way to maintain the fry when (and if) they hatch? ive bred jags & convicts & severums before, are they much the same in the care stakes? cheers

Ive got a pair of normals & a pair of whites & a pair of jags (not all in the same tank!!!) all going hammer & tongs, my god they produce some offspring, keeps me well supplied with feeders for the clown knives though btw Jags absolutely nail you if you dare put a hand in their tank

i tried my fire eel with them & it was far more trouble than it was worth, he was constantly on the prowl for eggs or babies, neverending conflict. Brilliant to watch though.......

i reckon theyre a fantastic fish, the only thing similar ive seen in chch are midas' and they arent even for sale
