  1. hmm interesting that others have luck with fish/koura combos wonder if its a north south thing. come to think of it i did keep northens with my goldies when i was a kid however the one time ive tried down here (chch) i lost 2 canterbury galaxids within 5 mins in a 4ft. needless to say i havent tried that again.
  2. Whitespot can be a problem with ones that have just been caught and is also made worse if temperature is a problem or so ive found anyway. whitespot is pretty much always around in the wild and fish under stress are generally going to be the first to be hit. if its a short term display u are looking to set up you may want to borrow some fish from somebody in your area that has already had them for some time. if u cant its not a biggy to treat it as long as you follow the directions given on the medication u choose to use. You would be hard pressed to find any fishkeeper that hasnt experienced whitespot at some time or another so dont stress about it too much
  3. Bullies are pretty easy to keep even with basic filtration . but you will have to keep an eye on the temp you dont want it to get too high tend to keep ours under 13c . like Hans said dont put any fish in with your Koura they will get nailed pretty fast. but freshwater shrimp seem to do ok we have about 20 swimming around with our blue.
  4. Got to love Giants they allways look grumpy to me. Nice pics btw. Tend to feed ours on a mix of stuff usually washed chopped mussel , bloodworms etc but have taken fine diced up squid if ive had any leftover at the end of the day. sometimes ill chuck a few live mysids in with him if we have plenty on hand but not too many there fast little suckers when they want to be
  5. I raised common bullies about 10yrs ago starting with liquifry (wardleys from memory) followed by freshly hatched brine shrimp may work for uplands or redfins u never know.
  6. I got some clout in a couple of years back on the off chance it would be let thru . the package was oppened but they passed it so im guessing i was either lucky or its allowed . it wasnt very expensive either. think i got it from aquariumpros
  7. Na i work with him he started going on about the legal implications of having one of these frogs then realised after he posted that you arent from here and didnt know how to delete the post so edited it instead....and now i shall go point and laugh at him
  8. no disrespect to Loopy, but we seem to have forgotten that it was coelacanth that positively identified them in the first place and brought up the illegality of the issue. The specimens that MAF have are apparently being sent to freshwater fish expert RM McDowell for a fast id.
