  1. What the white is ..Heximita..Spelling might not be correct but its a protozon in the gut and often just called whole inthe head..

Once seen white dropping tells in the advance stage and in imported discus was usually to late..

In discus also was reported that when the bright red ones that are colour feed stand little chance of survial as weaked by hormone

I lost a lot like that..Main reason i stopped importing discus because of hex and fish could not live long..

All the bright red i imported now have lost most and are back to normal colours..No hex or tape worms

Im treating 2 very large oscars and in 300 L i daily add 6 x 400mg tabs and dont change the water as life if reported as short..

Starting to look for food and on day 5 ..Hex goes all the way up track to mouth so the poor fish cant swallow food...

Once getting to feed i disvlove tabs and soak into pellets..Much better if fish is still feeding..

But remember all these treatments are hit and miss..No proven info even from Bayer Germany as all done for trout and salmon..

    Good luck..Phill

  2. I dont worry about little tanks under at least 1.5 meters as above it takes on a completely new set or rules...Engineering spec's and even special care and even the weather can affect the manufacturing......Do at the wrong time can mean the tanks likely to fail with in a short time....Also the pricing is worth the time spent...Phill

  3. Hi

Negavon can be dangerous to many cats like bristlenoses { kill them and many ancristus } and dose rates are Mostly hit and miss as Even bayer the makers have done little on fish ..Just a bit on salmonoides

A 1/4 gram can treat 300 L but has to be watched for reactions as all fish will react in different maners...

    Cheers Phill

  4. Hi

You actually need a microscope to tell what your dealing with.White droppings is a good sign of hex and bugs can be id that way..Many then are simular but at least you know it's in the simular type problems.

They are every where in the tank and as fish feed they take them in..

They..This will shock many...Go through sumps and infect every tank and every fish.Need most likely 1 micron filter to collect..Maybe smaller..

I know of one recently got food from a pond and then lost all his fish room stocks via the sump..

UV will only affect bacteria thats passing through the unit..Thats why huge water turnovers are required to be affective..

Up to 1 turnover every hour i have seen written..

Also you will never kill them all as they to live right through the tank and if conditons are wrong the fish get sick..

To sumps..If having to treat say for hex and needs several days of repeats then the treatment costs in big set up is can be more that the fish value..

I never even go to another tank with out washing hands and drying first..These bugs can spread so easy and had to actually know fish are sick till to late..Once you see not right usually to late..

I have also got some young growing on and look forward to see them breeding ..

Good Luck with your fishies....Cheers Phill

  5. Out of south america there is just one ..Sturisoma They have up turned noses and pointed... ......The albino is just that..They call them royals but are not intertional considered as that..False royals is more accepted..I did see someone in papakura with them..I did not check location but could very well be them..They were breeding but special foods are required..I imported mine for the blacks that breed here.Thats way they may be getting sold..Not easy to watch fry just die time after time.... Phill

  6. Hi

Not it..Go back to where i first put photos and read my notes..Its a far thicker fish..I did put i have imported the others before and really completely different..

To note about the glass tank....YES it just about 30mm wide on one section and 90mm on other side..A different colour back round can be slipped into dry area allowing the camera something to focus on..

Most camera's dont take good photo's in water because the field of depth is not known by camera in water........Phill

  7. Was not you that note was for but a few others that will be busting to get these whiptails..

Because of mostly attacks i now dont post advise or try to help because of a few that turn every thing into a rat case..I will now only run my own listing or send private notes of help..By generally i look and go on.So the forum often is missing out on 40 years of experence breeding just about you name and yes killies..

    Phill
