  1. would not advise it unless they are of similar dimensions? They are fine on their own and more often than not better off,no competing for food, basking spots etc etc.People put all these human emotions onto them but in the wild they are solitary apart from mating, when the babies hatch they go off in separate directions, they don`t hang around in little groups.if your really worried just put a mirror in there ,he won`t know the difference.
  2. The guy from Animates told me if he doesnt get his greens and veges he will grow too big for his bones. I would not worry too much about what this `guy` tells you??bones are made from calcium last I heard,if you give him what he wants as in the the live food(dusted with calcium)and have the greens available to him you will be fine(make sure he has the right uv light source or access to natural sunlight)they go through phases with they want and you are lucky as greens are cheap and easy to supply, even if he wastes a bit before he gets onto them, you still have to make them available.
  3. you think crickets grow fast you should try locusts???
  4. vitamin od is way worse than too much calcium?and far more likely.
  5. if you want him to reach his full potential in terms of size and health, you have to get the protein and calcium into him early.Have you got the bearded dragon manual? They can grow at a phenominal rate but they aren`t going to do that on just veges?
  6. vibrating feeder dish? should be what you need.
  7. in the banner picture on this forum with the native fish in it,is one of them eating another?
  8. good one bulldogod, just got a contact for you from my ex bro in law,he used to work with the dogs at the airport. Will keep it in mt book for next time??
  9. My backyard is about 10 metres x 10 metres?garage down one side ,house on another and 2 other sides high fence, rough mowed grass etc inside and when i put the beardies out there they can`t get out,but when you go to find them you are sure that they have sometimes? They don`t like to be out in the open and re always on high alert for birds and can see the tinyest speck of a bird high up in the sky.It will most likely be burrowed into some weeds etc not far from where the cage was.The time I lost my one I left the garage door open and it went in there and out the other door and just a couple of metres around the corne under the mower, three days later?I would go for a dog to find it,and I know people who have found missing tortoises with them,Maf sniffer dogs would be the go if you could get in touch with them, they are under good control and will just find it too.
  10. I have found these as well,I just put it down to my neglecting the cultures, lack of water etc and a bonsai strain?also years of inbreeding may have a bearing?Sometimes I get a bit slack with the carrot /spud supply in there?Have not really studdied the beetles but seen the smaller pupae.
  11. must be the weather for it?Went out today to find the male beardy in the backyard(fenced)could not see him in the usual spots so thought he must be under the buddlia bush, went over there and moved a few branches when something ran along the top of the fence and jumped into the yard, what?one of my water dragons!man can they go!lucky it jumped into the yard and not out or it would still be going.Caught it and put it back in its pen and cut down the tall paspallum stems it must have used as a ladder? As for your beardy he would have gone to ground and will be curled up half buried in some weeds etc.Lost one of mine last year and found her 3 days later curled up under the lawn mower?good luck,no anyone from MAF ,they might want some real training for their dogs?
  12. when you gotta go you gotta go I suppose? All you have to do is give her acess to a suitable digging site and she will do the rest. One of the main turtle breeders in this country used to watch his girls for signs of wanting to lay(off their food, trying to get out of their tank etc etc)He would take them out and put them in a cordoned off area off his garden and leave them.they would lay their eggs he would ig them up and hatch. The soil was easier to see where they had layed unlike a sand area where once its dried out often nigh on impossible to tell they have laid.Mine are in an outside pond with sand all around, this is a real problem as I have to dig the whole area over carefully or some eggs get missed. They will lay every three weeks if you feed them well.
  13. here`s one of mine,young male boxie,the first one I ever hatched I think?
  14. if it has babies its a girl,if there are just the two, then the one that did not have the babies is a boy.Alot of experienced keepers go by this method too!
  15. just a boy thing, nothing to worry about, put a mirror in there and see what he looks like?Easy on the "love him with all my heart",that maybe but its still just a lizard???
  16. good as,anything like that fine shell grit for birds, bones that have been through a fire are also good.food items with bones still in them or calcium rich foods.Dandelions are meant to be good.I also topdress the whole backyard with huge doses of limesand which in theory should be taken up by the plants and passed on.
  17. nah,but been wanting to come up for that one, have not been for yonks.
  18. I have heard that you will get better fuel economy with the chev motor than the original?I only get 17m.p.g. from mine(chev)how much gogo juice do those twin tanks hold bulldogod?
  19. I try not to go on those too much, end up getting depressed???
  20. kingsnake is worth a look and when you get through everything on it let me know?
  21. no torts over there and re`s are prohibited, the only ones I saw were some at Steve Irwin`s that had been confiscated.I have a brother over there who would dearly love to get some of the young boxies but no go.
