  1. So true. This explains why Zeovit does not work for everybody.
  2. Sorry Layton, I'm certainly not going to give you money to perform your very risky experiment. If you are trying to prove your iron theory, and you screw up and kill everything which I think is very likely, why should I have to pay? Fact is, I knew from the beginning you would never do the experiment, as you know you will not be able to achieve the zeovit effect simply by dosing iron.
  3. Does your offer to do the experiment still stand as you have stated? Please proceed.
  4. Good research Reef. That is exactly why iron IMHO will cause browning of acros. Layton, this argument is circuitous and could just keep going. How about we end it here and you simply perform your experiment? That way we will know! If you can get the Zeovit effect by simply dosing iron, I will eat crow for you
  5. Oh my apologies, I started my last post before you put up the pic including the subtitles. To answer you question re what causes the green colour, according to the caption it is turf algae. Why ask me? What has any of this to do with your iron theory? Have you figured out what form of iron you claim leached from zeovit so you can start your experiment? Again, I am very interested in this experiment.
  6. The pic shows a coral that appears about 50% TN'ed, with perhaps some algae growing on it. Not sure what it is you think that proves about iron. Reef I'll agree with your last statement, iron may add some green to acros. But as far as I know, that's about it.
  7. Layton what would you think of that statement?
  8. Wrong. You dissapoint me here. Based on what you just said about the browning or bleaching effects of iron a few posts back, I thought you were moving along the path to enlightenment here.
  9. I would agree with that, and it shows there is more to the zeovit system than iron. Interesting Reef you found iron dosing fuelled your algae growth. When I went zeovit my algae all died. We would seem to have yet another dilema here for those who think all zeovit does is leach iron.
  10. I like it! What's even better, I have what I think is a frag of the same coral, same size as yours in the first pic! So here's to two years time
  11. Peter, is it a TDS meter you want? If so I have one. But you would have to pick up, and return.
  12. Gosh Layton you do seem to be getting rather muddled. It is the result of the experiment you have offered to do, which was to set up a small tank and dose with whatever you think is leaching from zeovit, to see the effect. But first you will have to figure out what it is you think is leaching from zeovit, no point asking me, I'm just as confused about what you think it is, as you are. You have claimed it is some form of iron, but as you are the one making the claim, you are the one who will have to decide what form of iron you think it is, I really don't know why you asked me for, I wouldn't have a clue. But myself and others do have a genuine interest in your experiment and are keen to see you go ahead with it.
  13. You mean the questions about which speciation of iron, etc? Why ask me, it is you who is making these leaching claims, not me. If you do not know which kind of iron you are talking about, I certainly don't. How about when you find out what it is that you say is leaching from zeovit, then you could go ahead and try dosing it, and we will see if it works as claimed And please forgive my skeptisism, it's just I've been all through exactly the same thing on the zeobac issue with you, and in the end it turned out the manufacturers claims had been correct all the time.
  14. Good idea. Go ahead and try that, I will be interested in the results, however I am pretty confident I already know what they will be.
  15. Excellent suggestion. Even just the zeolite rocks alone may help his brown acros, not nessecarily because of iron, but because the zeolite will facilitate bacteria and help reduce his high nutrients. Iron may be a part of this, but I wouldn't think it is the whole story.
  16. Well, we are getting somewhere at last. I have been saying since day one that zeovit is a bacterial driven system, and I congratulate you that you at last appear to have accepted this, rather than what you were saying in that last zeovit thread Took a while though
  17. Wrong. That's all speculation at this stage. And to prove it, go ahead and dose some iron and see what happens to your corals.
  18. I cannot give you a dose rate, iron is unstable in an aquarium and dose rate will vary from one to another. But if you want to try, go ahead and dose according to the manufacturers recomendations. You will find that the effect will if you dose enough, be to darken your corals even more, perhaps with a green tinge. It will not produce beautiful colors as in a zeovit system.
  19. Just read it again, you should be able to see. And I do not want this to degenerate into a slanging match thank you.
  20. How do I know? Easy:- Let's say we dosed iron into for example your tank. Your corals would become even browner than they are now, perhaps with a tinge of green, if it would show through the brown. They would not become more colourful. If you don't believe me, try it.
  21. Wrong, you need to read it again, there is a lot more to it.
  22. Iron may play a part, I wouldn't know, it is unproven speculation. But anyone claiming that iron is the whole story is wrong, or we could achieve the exact same thing by simply dosing the correct form of iron, and that is clearly not the case.
  23. Anyone interested in a better explanation as to how Zeovit works can find one here http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showt ... ost5174769 ( Thanks Alois ). If it doesn't come out in the right place for you, look for the post by Alois in the middle of the page. While this info is actually about a competitor product, the principle is in many ways similar.
  24. Not sure what game it is you want to play Peter. For my part I decided to come back and post a few rational points that have been somewhat overlooked, for the benefit of those with a genuine interest in the product. The thread so far has been overweighted with speculation.
