Ok i have been adding a cup of calcium chl a day 4 the last 4 days and it has only risen 20ppm. Thats quite a small increase compared to when i first started using the calcium chl. Its starting to do what the mg has been doing. Could the chloride have somthing to with it ?.

Sorry for the delay. Went to the LPS to see my mate and did some tests with his kits just to compare with mine. My salifert kH = 8.0 LPS salifert = 8.0 My salifert MG = 1220 LPS salifert = 1300 also there JBL = 1320 My salifert CA = 460 LPS salifert = 360 also there JBL = 310 Its looks like i could not see the trees for the forest. The CA was to low as this would explain the slowing growth rate. But does this cause the other 2 to not rise ? And of corse the MG was out but as much as i was hoping.

Cant be a leak i only add ro and supplements through a home made drip system. I hear what your saying about the amont and i just cant figure it out. Its almost like they are cancelling each other out. If i miss a few days it just drops right down to 1100 mag and 5 kh. Its got me stumped. Starting to think my mag an absorber not a raiser :-?

I started adding 6 table spoons a day mag chloride about 3 months ago which brought the mag to 1220. I am now up to 15 table spoons a day and the mag is 1200 and not climbing. Dont realy want to over dose, starting to think i have a dud bag. Anyone else having this problem. Also adding 1 KG of baking soda a week to maintain a KH of 8. Calcium ok but the MAG and KH just wont rise. Getting a bit sick of mixing and adding 30 ltrs of RO + supplement a day.

Nearly anything should go with your maroon As long as it doesnt have an evil temper and you dont get another clown. Shop till you drop.

I never had any luck keeping angels with soft coral. They always chowed down on it after a while. Seems to always be my luck.

I hear you mine is growing out of control. My blue tangs ues it as a house and break of branchs which attach to the rocks and away they go. Had to do sum pruning the other day and got the need it and a bit of rock from the sump. The finished art work looks not to bad. A bit like a heard of mooses frozen in the south pole with there antlers exposed

I think it will be alot better as when i do water changes it drops my levels a little, add that to the fact that it does drop fast anyway and you have an extra low reading. Then you have to add extra calcium, mag, etc to bring it back up which costs more money plus the fact that when your levels are lower it takes longer to bring them up. But still you ave a good point is it cost affective. If nothing else it might save on time and effort.

Dont get one to small they seem very prone to anything not just white spot. This is just somthing i have come to see over the last 12 years, i am not saying it cant be done but the level difficulty goes up.

Na i dont have any carpets but would like one to. The LPS has a pair of pink skunk clowns which would look good in my tank. Head office has got the foot down. Woman i dont know.

Tryd the torch but i had some trouble as all the other fish wanted a turn. Have to pass on the hair alge this round. Been feeding him alot of food to try and fill him out. His stomach area is a bit bigger but the other day his poos where like long worms. Have had this many years ago with no bad out come, but due to the amout of food avalible and his bag of bones look i am thinking i might not get him through this one.

I am 90% sure my rabbit fish has worms. Any body know of a coral friendly med. I am not up with the play on the latest meds avalible in NZ.

I lost my carpet as well and i have MH lights and good water quality. Sometimes these things happen for unknown reasons but the light sounds like the answer on this one.

Just wondering who told you this in rotorua. I had an eel for a year in my coral tank with no issues. I had to put a top on my tank as they climb out. Have you got a top on your tank reef or are you just taking a chance.
