I see overseas they use a fine sand for their tanks as a substrate, looks great but was told gravel is a no no due to impaction. Surely a real fine sand would be the same? Have got 6 newts currently and wanting to goto a bigger setup hence the query re sand as it looks awesome!

I believe so but not 100% sure, I believe they have to be already in the country & under no circumstances are we allowed to import any reptiles even those on the list. Someone else on here probably knows more to be honest.

Pretty sure 100% chance you can't get one legally in the country as we aren't allowed to import any reptiles I believe.

I have a female Bearded Dragon whom I believe is gravid, she has dug a hole on tuesday, eaten upto 20 crickets wed-thursday and now sits in the hole she has dug but no eggs yet. Hasn't gone to toilet for a week now and booked into see a Vet 2moro. She has had a warm bath which she loved and very alert and relaxed but basically I am concerned she can't pass the eggs. Any helpful ideas?

Yep I'm running a Heat Lamp in the tank for 12-15 hours (loves basking) a day then having a cooling off period at night. Is eating wet cat food as per the breeders instructions and he/she loves baby locusts also, not keen on crickets till bigger. Was told no meal worms by breeder as he said known to kill them. Currently in a 60cm tank till spring/summer then upscale to a 90-120cm terrarium I'm yet to build.

Seeing a lot of negative talk about red lights used with Bearded Dragons and Leopard Geckos on overseas forums. All lizards have a pariatl eye and Beardies can go blind from using them & the same for Leopards. I use red for Leopards at night for viewing only and not at all on Beardies. What is other peoples opinions on this?

Oh ok, so no heat lamp or heatpad for them to bask under/ontop of to warm up before hunting for prey? Sound like an easy care skink then

Ok, was trying to gauge what peoples Beardies weighed as a basis to see how my girl was going, she is healthy and eating and not obese but just wondered what a "average" weight should or could be for her.

Nice looking girl. My girl is approx 420g and 18-24 months old, got her just after she'd laid eggs and was very emaciated from it all. Looks 200% better now. I can't post pics unfortunately as don't know how... I'm surprised no one else has commented as would've thought more people would weigh their dragons as a weekly routine and to examine them also?

Hi, I'm just wondering what people's dragons weigh? Have 'searched' and looked online to no avail & am curious as to what an ideal weight would be for a male/female Beardy? I know it all depends on age etc and what/when & how often they eat etc. To make life easier say 18-24 months old. Cheers in advance...

Yeah I've seen all that online and have literature on hand, was trying to get informed answers from people in the know and would like to be able to post a pic for reference but can't seem to...
