Just stick with an internal filter.
I use a bt 400 on my 60l tank and it works a treat.
Why do you feel the need to change to a canister ?

All of those plants should grow just fine with half of that light

Looks to me like the seller wouldn't let it go to an unprepared home anyway

Great album
Frantic is one of my favourite all time metallica songs
Listening to Smashing pumpkins - Siamese Dream

my brain is going overdrive trying to figure out the logistics behind this criminal operation.
how on earth do they steal that many big fish??
i'd love to be the detective on this case...
A really really big siphon hose?

Why not try and make a soundproof box for one ?

Good to hear !
Hopefully all goes well, keep us updated with progress !

When I was younger I used to know a fella who had his whole house kitted out with trains , I mean everywhere. Coming through the walls from one room to another - he was slightly eccentric...
I have always admired the detail that goes into some of these projects.
Very impressive

Hi Shayne,
It looks like you're looking for some firemouth cichlids to go with the ones you were given by a friend , is that correct ?
Where are you located ? I'm sure someone in your area will be able to point you in the right direction, if not, the right place to ask if they can get some in for you .

Yeah the difference isn't too big - but with your bracing I'm sure that will also add to the overall strength of it.
The tank looks very well braced and if you're patient with a steady hand I'm sure you could trim down the silicone with a razor blade or a craft knife, just be very careful not to scratch the glass. If of course it bothers you - if not, just leave it.
If the tank was mine, I would have filled it and had it running anyway solely due to impatience :sml2:
The conflicting opinions on the internetz about laminated glass I've found in the last half hour has just confused me even more. Some say it's stronger, some say it's weaker, some say it's no different. :dunno:
-
I would just talk to the guy who built it and make sure you have reassurances in case anything does go wrong .
It's a very interesting tank , I've not seen one built like it before.
Are the 2 pieces of glass siliconed together or do you think it is something else bonding them ?

1> Black Ghost Knife - Could watch one for hours on end. The way they swim is just mesmerising.
2> Odessa barbs - My favourite barbs - The interaction between them is non stop - They get along with everything else in the tank and their colours are even better close up.
3> Bettas - I love the way they get all excited when I feed them , and the way they absolutely destroy food. Amazing fins and colours - truly beautiful fish.
My tune would probably change if I had experience with larger fish but my experience is limited to 3-4ft or smaller tanks

http://www.austinglass.com.au/aquariums.html
Lots of info there for you to have a read through. The page layout is terrible but the fella knows his stuff.
Considering you have Euro and regular bracing I would be fairly confident in the tank.
But, 10mm laminated ? I think you might have the wrong info there.
Laminated glass comes in different thickness than regular glass, as it has a layer of laminate in-between.
i.e 6.38mm is very common, as it's 2 x 3mm sheets stuck together - the .38 left over is the thickness of the laminate.
Can you put up a pic of your tank ? and especially the glass in question ?
It's not just laminated on one side?

If you love your kiwi music, ask mister google for the APRA top 100 kiwi songs of all time.
Some good gravy in there. (pre 2002)

You forgot to follow paragraph "e" of step 15.5 sub chapter 7.9 in the instructions you were given here.
Any living sea creature that eats and poops will help with cycling.
Now whether that creature is hardy enough to survive an immature tank , that's another question.

No , I haven't flown internationally since I was 8 years old, which was to go to my mothers funeral in Australia.
So, I'm guessing my dad actually filled it out for me.
You would come off a lot smarter without the childish insults.

I'm guessing your impeller shaft is worn
Shaving the blades will only work until it wears some more, it might be easier to just replace the shaft

There's more to our country than Auckland ?!?
Why weren't we told !

We do not like to name and shame here, especially when we only hear one side. I am not condoning bad behaviour but there may be different people there now, or the woman no longer works there, or has since been re-trained or censured.
The thing is, there isn't another side to it.
And it doesn't matter if she worked there just for the one day , she was representing the business and as such it reflects on the business.

At least it's not david shearer
If we had shearer in office, imagine the sheep jokes !

Unfortunately, yes !

Yeah great south vets is awesome. Incredibly well priced compared to just about everywhere
What sort of cat you getting Sophia?
I have 5 foster kittens looking for homes soon  I hate kitten season, just thankful I'm not handrearing this lot haha!
pics ?

I would also recommend Great South Vets - they are definitely cheaper than anywhere else I have seen and the service there is impeccable.
Don't ever go to "Veterinary Associates" In Takanini (http://www.netvet.co.nz/)
When I went in there with my cat who had just been run over, they wouldn't even look at him until I produced the money to pay for consultation :an!gry
I had left my wallet at home in the mad rush to get cat to the vet...
The woman on the counter was a horrible person , I was begging her to help and look at the cat while I went back to get my wallet (2 mins drive) but she refused and told me no vet would help me without upfront payment which was utter BS.
I then proceeded to Great South vets and they took him in without question and even offered me a cold drink from their fridge.
I have made it my life goal to warn as many people off that horrible place as possible since
The What's Up? thread.

There was a nationwide outage on the telecom network in the last day
Those on vodafone network should have been unaffected (vodafone, slingshot)
All others would have probably noticed it.
