  1. "Wayde says, “We make sure any of the fish that we’re going to get are eating and are in good shape and condition. Reality TV is reality TV; most of the time everything looks like it’s done overnight.

We don’t want people to think that it’s being done overnight—people need to understand that all the builds and everything that we do, they don’t happen instantaneously; it takes time.

We do whatever we can to ensure the proper environment for the fish, whether it be food, feeding, so forth and so on.”"

Seems to me like a whole lot of people don't quite understand that watching fish acclimate isn't entertaining enough for a reality tv series.

If everyone bothered to do their own research on the show, you'd find that they actually do get their clients to employ a fishkeeper for maintenance.

Now, if their client so choses not to....... that's hardly their fault is it?

I mean hell, you don't go blaming HFF when someone new arrives here asking why their 20 incompatible fish died in the first week.....do you ?

I mean, that's the customers responsibility to research right?

  2. Hi,

I have used sand from multiple beaches around Auckland in a few different tanks and never had any issues.

The only real thing you need to do is wash it off and pick out all the bits of seaweed and other plant matter so it doesn't rot.

Easiest way I've found to do this is run it through a sieve .

I've been told in the past that you have to pull all the bits of shell out because it will affect the PH of the tank, but I've never bothered personally and my PH tests have always been where I want them but that's up to you

    cheers

  3. ahh so you are the man who leave my livestock gate open :bggrn: (joke)

its breath taking view up there right.. i hear its more beautiful at night, been the new land owner i still havnt been up there during night time,,

do you work for Transpower?? if you ever see a silver hilux up there, then that me.

would be nice to meet you one day since we are on the same page.. 8)

hey i hear those radio tower can cause so call long term cancer ?/ is that true? i try to do some research on them but it a yes n no infos.. iam guessing you guy would some sort of protection or method of avoiding transmitted signal?

Nah , you'll be fine up there, most of the gear there is direct microwave links - unless you climb the tower and stand directly in the path you'll be ok . If you do tho, you'll probably start cooking from the inside out fairly quickly .

I work for Infratel, a rigging company - we subcontract to vodafone, telecom, 2degrees and so on to install and maintain those dishes on the tower.

You can blame transpower for the gates :D haha

  4. I've got a singular cherry barb who has seemed to make best friends with my rainbow shark , they both chase the other fish around the tank all day .

Won't tolerate any other fish coming close to the log they have co-inhabited for the last 6 months :D

  5. You could try my technique..

Rock up at the absolute last minute , deal with every other moron like me who doesn't get his shopping in early , run around in a mad rush trying to get presents for everyone you know......

And end up buying yourself a batman t shirt and nothing for anyone else.

    :cr2:
