i was just thinking they could do it on the length. It annoys me to what peoples views o a huge or large tank is. To me a huge tank is like over 800 ltr And a large is over 300 ltr

i haven't really decided on the plants yet. It will be running four t5 bulbs not 2

I have a co2 system but i want to get a ph controller for it. I have been looking at the milwaukee sms122. Has anyone used or owned it before? And are you able to buy the probe here, or will a generic one work? or are there any others that are good? I will most likely be getting it of amazon. And how do i get it to work with a timer as well. thanks for the help

I just though i would start a thread now for my new tank build. The tank sump and overflow box was all made from Greg ( tanks2U) My tank is 1500L x 600w x 700h made from 12mm glass. My substrate is just going to be black grit. This will be my first tank running co2. the lighting so far is two 4 foot twin bulb T5 light fittings. But i will prob get some more lights eventually. The stand is made out of 4x2, plywood and T&G rimu. I am still in the finishing process of the stand. It has tanking me about a month so far to make. I will up load some pics of my progress soon

I am also have the same thoughts to superico. So i have been doing some research as well about the thread of the bottles. On this website it say that DIN 477 is a non preferred cylinder neck thread. Stated on page 49 Dose this mean its still usable in NZ? http://www.epa.govt.nz/Publications/Guide%20to%20Gas%20Cylinders%202011.pdf I have also gone through and old thread about co2 cylinders http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=11047 Which says that NZ and OZ use the same thread as the british which that thread is Din 477 DubbieBoy posted a link on that thread about the different cylinders neck threads and OZ had a different thread size AS2473 Type 30 http://www.teamonslaught.fsnet.co.uk/co2_info.htm To me this is kind of confusing But do the cylinders with the Din477 still meet NZ regulations and standards?

I got my lights last weekend for my new tank which is still in the building stage. I ended up getting two twin T5 bulb Juwel lights. I got these second hand and work mint. They were only $75 each and the bulbs are only 3 months old. the are the 5 foot fittings with the 4 foot bulbs. I was going to get the hagen glo light fittings but they are way over priced. The only thing i need to decide to do is to go CO2 or not or just wait and see how it goes when i get it gets set up in the next couple weeks.

I just put my female back into the main tank and out of the breeding trap. When she came out she was flaring and chasing my male. She is seeming more interested this time And now my male is busy rebuilding his bubble nest
-
Yeah i should have changed my words around. I have been reading some reviews and some comparisons about the fx5 VS the eheim 2080. No i am even more confused then before. Because i know now that the fx5 is more of a mechanical filtration rather than the eheim which is more biological. But the price of the 2080 is just way to crazy its just under 1k. How ever i do have an idea to increase the biological media in the fx5 but i will need to see the baskets to see if it will be a success or failure. Now i have also been considering sumping my new tank. As anyone got a sumped planted tank? I just want to know if it works well and how big the sump would have to be just to give me some ideas. I am assuming that it would be way cheaper than and external canister filter

I have a uv filter on my pond and the bulb lasted 3 or 4 years and worked just as well as it did when we got it And my pond is in the sun most of the day. I too have been researching about an fx5 filter for my new tank. The fx5 is a great filter but how ever as i have been reading that it is mostly mechanical filtration 25 litres and only 6 litres of biological media.
-
I will defiantly get an fx5 in the next week as my new tank just arrived today and now i have to finish making my stand
-
not that i can see possible. I have this breeding net http://www.hollywoodfishfarm.co.nz/detail/view/aqua-one-net-breeder/m/1547/ If you have any ideas they would be much appreciated
-
Ok i dont have another tank to put the female in as i have two other males in my other tank. But i might just put the male im trying to breed into that tank but in a breeding net. Or could i put him into my south american tank or would the ph be to low
-
They are in the same tank but they are separated now she is in one of the fine mesh breeding nest is this alright as for separation?
-
They have been together for about two weeks. He is very interested in her he flares and chases her. But she swims away but she does occasionally flare up at him.
-
They are in a 75 liter tank. I have some plants in it to help keep the bubble nest is place and a slow moving filtration system. I had one of them in a breeding net and then once the female was nice a big i put them in together but it has been awhile now and nothing. Anything i can do to stimulate them to try and breed
-
The tank i have at the moment is 1200Lx450wx700H and it is the south american i am upgrading and i am running 4x 54watt t5s in it and my plants go crazy. My new tank is 5 foot long but the two of those 4 foot units should be sufficient enough and i'm guessing that it will give the fish some shaded patches at either end of the tank
-
Yeah i do think that i would get 6 to 8 t5s. I personally do not want to go MH lamps. I am still considering going led as well. But now i am just getting confused about which lights to get

I have some fighters that are wanting to breed. The male is blowing big bubble nests And the female is nice and fat. But i am having no success at getting them to lay their eggs. Any ideas?
