  2. What do you guys think about this light? http://www.fish-street.com/key_led_freshwater_aquarium_lighting?category_id=118 If they are good i would most likely get two of the 80D model and at least these these ones are have dimming for sunset?sunrise. Or are there better ones for the same price?
  3. I am considering getting 2 of the 120cm full white and two either 40 or 50 cm ones. If anyone could help me with choosing the right amount of wattage it would be much appreciated. The c120 are 19.5 watt each The c40 6.6 watt each the c50 7.5 watt each Or would it be better going with 4 of the c60 which are 9.8 watt? And would it be getting some with some blue leds as i will have a lots of blue on my fish
  4. Has anyone used these lights for fresh water? http://www.fish-street.com/weipro_led_lighting_led-c?category_id=118
  5. I am getting a new tank this week and i am needing to get some new lighting. My tank is going to be a planted 600ltr south american tank. 1500Lx600Wx700H So what do you guys recommend? I am wanting to go t5 preferably. And i also want to set up a sunrise and sunset set up I am considering getting 3 two foot twin bulb t5. I would have them running from front to back Or would it be better to have a four foot light
  6. Yeah i saw that in my other discus but the funny thing is that the bossiest one is the biggest but has almost no colour but my the 2 smaller ones are almost fully coloured. Thanks for the help
  7. i think they came out of a 80ltr tank. I do them twice a week. But i will start to do more now. I have up'd the air in the tank by putting a eheim 2010 which has air going through it
  8. These guys are around 4-5cm big. I just have fine grit. This tank has only been up for a week but i transferred all the water from their old tank into the new one including their filter. I just have gouramis and BN and corys I feed them on frozen blood worms, freeze blood worms, frozen brine shrimp, thera +A, freeze dried tubifex and discus tucker and they do eat my corys shrimp pellets. In probably about a month they will be moving into a bigger tank
  9. Last week end i just upgraded my 6 young discus's tank to 140L. And i have noticed that they are breathing rather heavily. I have tested my nitrate, nitrite and ammonia levels and they are all fine. But my ph is around 7.2. The temperature is around 27 dregrees. I have two bits of drift wood and a couple of stones. They swim around fine but they will hide in there cave. They are eating fine. I have up'd the water flow buy putting an eheim internal filter in, to try and increase the air in the water. When they are breathing both gills are moving the same amount so it is not gill fluke. There poo does not seem white but seems stringy What should i do? And what is the best ph for discus? I have been told that the ph should be closer to 7 on the acidic side as they are locally breed
  10. Thanks for that link. I talked to greg from tans2u on thursday and he is going to make the tank for me.
  11. I'm going cheat and get someone to build a tank for me because i think that i wont have enough time to make it and the stand. So anyone know a tank builder that is good?
  12. Yeah i saw that clip earlier today and seems pretty easy to make the spray bar. I have and eheim 2215 and an aquaone 700. I find them really quite as i have them on separate tanks and they are in my bed room. I defiantly find that the 2215 isn't the easiest to clean. But haven't yet cleaned the aquaone as i have only recently set it up. I have checked the prices on trademe and they a pretty much the same price as HFF
  13. Oh yeah good idea I will see if josh can get me one. I might try going straight through one of the suppliers as my mate knows some people at them. Hopefully they still work there
  14. Sweet i will get one of them soon. Does anyone know any cheaper places than HFF?
  15. I have been looking at the fx5 but do you think the flow rate will be to much?
  16. Hi there, I am about to double the size of my mostly South American discus community tank. It will be reasonably planted. And I am want to know peoples opinion on what filter to get. I have been looking for a short time and I am thinking on a Eheim professional 3 2075 or the 2080. Just wanting to know if there are any other ones out their. I don't have the biggest of budgets as i still have to get the tank and stand but by the looks of it, i am assuming that it will be around the 600 mark. I was also wanting ti know if anyone has used or is using the Eheim professional 3e 2078 and do you think it is worth the extra money? OR would it be better to have to smaller ones? Thanks in advance
  17. Thanks for that. I would love to go bigger but my wall is only 5 foot long which is a shame  How big should the bracing be on the top of the tank i do not want to make it difficult to reach into the tank? And what kind of bracing do you put in the bottom of the tank?
  18. Hi there, I am looking at building myself a new 1500Lx600Wx700H tank. I am able to source the glass myself. But i am just wondering What size i need to get the sheets cut to an is 10mm glass thick enough? I am assuming that i need 2 at 1500x700 and 2 at 580x700. Would the base be 1500x600 or would it need to be slightly bigger to compensate for the silicon? What kind of bracing would i also need? Thanks in advance
  19. Does anyone know where u cam get blue phantoms?
  20. This is kind of a stupid question. But can you keep more than one is a tank? I have a 4ft tank.
  21. Yeah he was fine the next day i did a water change and he was sweet and still going strong and happy as ever
  22. Today my siamese fighter was rubbing on the rocks and drift wood. He seems to be missing some scales on the same side as he was rubbing. Only saw him doing this for one short period. I am going to get my water tested tomorrow. Is this anything to be worried about and if so what are some remedies to do. Thank you
  23. I just got a siamese fighter a week ago. He is my first one that i have owned. I just want to know some easy to grow and readily available live food for my fighter, so that he can have a range of food to eat. Thanks
