  1. Concrete is reinforced and now reasonably level. Have nearly redone all the wiring. Digging trench for new wire from the main switch board in the next couple days which will easily be able to handle 60 odd amp:) Have got two mates who are sparkies so pretty sorted on the power side which is lucky
  2. Yeah thought you would have had fun moving out of the container:), parents want the storage back so gonna try get this all sorted by new years. Gonna be interesting. Im not sure if i'm going to gibb or insulate the roof at all as there is vents the length of the garage where the sides meet the roof and thought it will help with making the room not smelly and circulate the air a bit. Not sure if this is bad idea or not?
  3. Have just brought a house and it has a stand alone garage. What better than to make a fish room! Garage is 5.5m * 4.5m and will hopefully be just african cichlids. Plan is to move all my tanks in (as they are currently in my parents garage) then insulate, get decent power feed and water+drainage. Have started buying the large industrial strenght racking systems from Mitre 10 and will see how these go and will probably start making some racks out of 2*4's also but in the mean time the premade ones are much easier. Currently all tanks are filtered by at least either a canister or internal filter or both and will be looking at mainly going for Sponge filters. Would like to know some feedback on this. Have currently got a rather powerful airpump so hopefully should be okay to do this Will update this thread as I go Concrete was cracked and in terrible shape so have just finished getting the concrete slab being redone 4 ft rack that will be taking small breeding tanks and 2.2m stand that will be taking 6 * 3footers Current lot of tanks waiting to be moved.
  4. Ikola's are very very agro. They do have some of the best fights though:P camtang i found with 1 Ikola tank i have they are super active and take over the whole tank(even though they are with large haps like 20cm+ giraffes etc) the other tank they were very skittish so took all the rocks out bar a couple of clay pots and now they are active as.. just a thought... maybe moliro/fronts are not so brave, i can't comment on these two as i've never had them?
  5. Where can you buy Pothos from? Have looked at the warehouse, mitre10 and Palmers and no one has it Cheers
  6. Hey Jochen, You've seen my setup.(Not sure if i explained my water setup though) I pump rain water straight from the tanks outside into the tanks. The other tanks I have out west are on Town supply and I don't add anything else, just straight from the tap. No idea as to marine....yet
  7. Generally you can tell as the good breeders will have photos of their own fish up there, not the first pic off google they find:)
  8. For comparison here is a photo of my male.
  9. Thanks all. After having about 30 scrap it out and kill each other i think they've settled down and started breeding:). 1 female is constantly holding but seems to eat or spit the eggs after a few days. Have tried stripping the eggs but only ever seem to get 1 or 2 to survive. So not doing as well as i'd hoped:( Just need to convince the wife I can have another 8footer just for the ikola :digH:

  11. what do ya reckon? these are the only females left in that tank at my parents which im not sure what they are.
  12. Think i've got 2 males and about 6 or 7 females, will post a pic of them and see what you think. That electric blue i showed you is giving the males a hard time so might be time to pass him on. how's those lithos going, where they both female? Pulled out 9 holding (!) dems last weekend from my parents tank. Much more females than i thought i had:)
  13. Secret.... na kidding. Got them from the US i think they were 10 large stones for $50US plus shipping. Felt silly when telling my friends i was shipping rocks from America  They work really well. Most of the mbuna breed in them and are good for hiding.
  14. Thanks for all comments Smidey - The peacocks look really good without the flash, the jacobs and sunshines especially when they flare up against other males but didnt' catch that. Ill take some photos on the weekend to compare and post some. Scott - Ill take some tank shots from the garage but the big ones in a hard place to get a good full shot Nudge - I have 4 in one tank and only this one colours up. he makes sure the other 3 don't come out of the rocks or behind the caves and as such no colour:( Jeff - Pupuke aquarium has them and a couple of the other peacocks.
  15. Have been asked by some to take some pics of my newer fish so thought i should have a play with the camera. Aulonocara Sunshine - Really hard to get a decent shot. Always wants to go into the fake logs whenever i get the camera out  Demasoni Jacobfreibergi Taiwan Reef Can't remember but from memory its a Cobue Ice Blue Pink Dragonsblood Aulonocara ethlywenne Giraffe Albino ruby red - Only got this last week so still hasn't settled properly yet Clown Loach Elect Yellow Aulonocara Lwanda - My new fav fish, excuse the dirty glass
  16. I have brought some of these for the lighting of a 4ft tank(120*60*60) and found that i would need 2 of the 30w lights or 3 of the 10w watt lights as the light does not spread well. Currently i have the 12 led version of this http://ledworld.co.nz/index.php?dispatc ... t_id=30695 and find it very good but need a lot of them. ( i have 3 on a .9m tank ) I think you would want to change to the wide angle lenses but not sure if you can get them here.
  17. You can get these from Pupuke aquarium:D Awesome fish Rcon021. Now i just need to get more tanks to show them off:)
  18. Scarletmonuka- i have two male Empress's and both seem very agressive(and try to breed with most females in the tank). Being a large tank seem to be able to get away with the agression. And yeah its a giraffe:)
  19. Thanks all, hopefully i can find a nice female for him and then breed them
  20. Recently I purchased a 7ish foot tank off one of the members here so thought i should share some pics of it and the fish i have added. The Boss Ikola Holding Yellow the way they are supposed to look Auratus Male Tank Shot - excuse the work bench and cabling Anyone know what this guy is? ID Please

Got it from a guy down south that used to breed cichlids. don't think he does any more. Had a tank with Kadango's, Dems, Yellows and peacocks that actually looks like the baenschi so possible cross between that and the kadango's i guess?

I brought this peacock around 6months ago when it was only just starting to show colour. I was told it was a Aulonocara Beanschi(Sunshine). After looking on pictures from google, the colours don't look right(Not as yellow in the body). Or would it just be the lights/thats its only around 1 year old? Cheers
  23. Hi all, love reading all the topics on here but this is the first time i've posted. Just wondering if someone would be able to identify the following fish... They were sold to me all as Female Ice Blue Zebra's but one is different from the rest.... top one i believe is male(Metriaclima estherae?) and is a much lighter blue from the rest... Im guessing there are some type of hybrid? two of them have already breed with this guy(pretty sure its a metriaclima-greshakei?) Cheers for your help in advance
