Most of my units "are" ACTO... EC 58/65 .. although I have several smaller sizes of the ACTO .. EC40-EO, and a few Phillips 40watt SS cat# Z212 types. They would come with bi-pin endcaps.. starter.. and capacitor as needed. Email me if you get stuck.. I'll give you a good deal on two or more units. Bill.
-
Thanks Alan... but I think lorenceo is looking for the types without a starter... but if you don't mind the starter lorenceo.. then I can help you out as I have several unused units Bill

Good to see another business participating here at the NZ Fishroom. More businesses should do this, as it is the best source in NZ for finding out the needs of the NZ fishkeepers. Welcome to the fishroom Critters. Would be nice to see a few pics of your shop and tanks in the Commercial Section, along with perhaps a list of some of the fish, equipment, or specials that you might have Not "really" the correct place to ask... but "Do you ship fish... and have you a site we can visit..? Great to see you here

Your best bet is to re-start the culture with new medium. Garden compost (Organic stuff if you can get it) works ok. To get your worms out of the old mix do the following. Find a piece of fine mesh curtain... a bit like the mesh used for fish nets that you use in your tank. Drape this over a bowl and secure the edges of the mesh to the rim... use clothes pegs. Place a small amount (a good handful) of the old mix onto the net and place a strong light directly above it. This will drive the worms through the mesh and into the bowl. Place these worms in the centre of the new culture medium. I wouldn't bother feeding the new culture for a day or so till they settle down. HTH Bill

"Reef" is one of the members here Northern Lights Welcome to the NZ Fishroom BTW Bill.

Well said Shae.. I think you made a good point here Believe it or not Shae, those "horrible little mottled coloured angels" that you choose to call them, seem to have a better market than the standard silver and black you mention. The results would possibly be 25/75.. depending on the original parents of the pair shown... and may or may not produce some decent looking fish Bill.

I use glass.. and some people even use Glad Wrap.. so I suppose it comes down to what works for you. Bill.

Hi there Gregb, There's also another saying that says... "Let sleeping dogs lie" It seems that we might have a new beginning here in the marine section... so why not tell us about yourself and your tanks.. or even post some pics if you have some. Bill.
-
Yep... That would be much safer, provided you get someone conversant to see it is safely installed. Condensation is often overlooked, until the day arrives when you get zapped Take care now, Bill.

Hi Critter, Can you please reduce your image size to prevent having to scroll across the screen to read the posts. Thanks, Bill. You really need to place a connector of this type on the outside of the hood away from the humidity, and even then it would need to be totally enclosed in a waterproof sealed unit. Good job on the hood BTW

:) Now "why" would you say that Pies..? Have you done something naughty that we have overlooked My thanks Chim, Let us put away the past and get this forum growing once again. Bill.

Wasp said: As you can see from the above Wasp, the members "have" been warned on numerous occasions, and the worst of the posts either deleted or edited, so then we get "the challenge" in the hope of creating a further reaction from the moderators, which in turn leads to more verbal abuse to the moderators, who (like us all) are sick to the teeth of trying to maintain a respectable informative site. Hi Chim, You say... The "full" story is there for all to see unfortunately, and I saw no need to post the full story. You said: EXACTLY the point here. Why should this site suffer because of the attitudes of so few...? This is entirely up to you Chim, but let me say this... YOU... along with all the others in question are highly valued members of this section, who have vast amounts of knowledge they can freely share with others if they see fit. This forum was created for the needs of a small bunch of keen marine keepers that needed a place to share their ideas in a manner that would encourage other users to take up the challenge of keeping marines. This happened... and the interest at one point was huge, but is now in severe decline... despite the number of posts made. Nobody is blaming you as an individual, but you (and several others) are part of the fuel that keeps many of these argumentative debates ignited. As already stated... I have no personal interest against "anyone" on this site, but unless you guys get together and sort your differences out "offline", then surely there will be further actions taken. Bill.

Fortunately I am not the moderator in question above, but when you make a statement like this.. I think that you should look at some of the posts you have made that have PURPOSELY been made to create conflicts... not only for the two Admins that moderate this area, but for the rest of the members. Posts like... (both yours) taken from "Posts by Chimera" in your profile. and... .. have no place on this or any forum. And you say... Should the moderators you feel the need to mention just ignore these remarks, plus countless others by yourself and the other handful of trouble causers...? PERSONAL feeling do not come into the equation. You guys have.. (had).. the means to build the best source of marine info in this part of the world by sharing your knowledge with others, but instead you bite the hand that has given you an area in which to do this. Look at the above... This SW forum "could" have been bursting with posts from new members and old alike, but most it seems are so ashamed of the situation here that they choose not to visit. You want my opinion Chim...? Be grateful I don't have the means to put an end to this, or you would have been taking a nice long rest from the NZ Fishroom a long time ago, along with all the other members that see fit to ruin what is otherwise a great forum. Nothing personal here Chim.. but the end result seems obvious if the SW section is to continue. Bill.

Wasp said: You ARE joking of course..? EFFECTIVE MODERATION This forum is monitored constantly by half the moderating team, and as soon as one issue is edited... removed.. or modified.. another issue starts up.. often within hours. What happens then...? The moderators are slagged... verbally abused.. among other things, and despite both private warnings and ones posted publicly at the head of the section by the Admins, it STILL continues. There has been more causes for moderator intervention in the Saltwater Section this year alone, than there has been for all the other forums combined since the site was started. The actions of a handful of "know it all" marine keepers have broght this section to its knees, and now from the hundred or so members that USED to frequent this area, there are now just this handful left, who's aim it seems is to continue to demolish the few remaining strands of this forum that the decent members are trying hard to maintain. This virus created by these inconsiderate members is not only putting the image of the forum in jepardy, but the image of the FNZAS Fishroom also. My vote is put a stop to it NOW before it is too late. Bill.

LB said: Welcome to the world of fishkeeping Seems to me that you have all these dreams, but yet you are not prepared to accept keeping fish requires space,... time,.. and a great deal of effort .. if you want to do it right But it seems that you have bought a tank with divisions. Why would you "need" four heaters in a tank this size...? Seeing the tank is already made... Divisions clear of the tank base... undergravel filter (full base cover).. one heater only needed. In 6mm glass there is no need for additional "internal" struts or supports... just the standard top bracing. Normal dividers would have done the job at far less expense. Seems everyone has attempted to answer all your questions. Bill. -

This system that I built works fine for multiple tanks with one heat source. http://homepages.paradise.net.nz/grumpy ... 0Tanks.htm No drilling needed, but the ends of the tanks would need converting as per the pics. Alan... Remember I was saying I had lots of 24X12X15 (600x300x375) high tanks in 3mm glass...? Well these are a few of them Never gave a moments prob. Bill. -
A good school of White Cloud Mountain Minnows would look pretty nice in there also Bill.

Hi there John, Hope you really enjoy your visits here and find lots of interest. (Glad you finally decided to push the door open) Bill.

Fantastic pics Reef Interesting to see the lights so far from the water surface. I always understood that the light was an important factor and was usually pretty close to the surface to be affective. Bill.

Undersoil heating cables from some of the better garden centres would do the trick. Just run in conjuntion with a good thermostat and you should have a good set up. I thought previously (before my fishroom was taken over by my son) that I would use either hot pipes or heat cables buried in trays of black sand with the tanks resting on this... but it didn't eventuate.. but I can see no reason for it not working Bill. -
A certain rule of politeness ... which is accepted WORLDWIDE by computer users on forums.. chat rooms.. mail.. and most other forms of communication, is to only use caps to emphasize a point, or to show anger or shouting. It is also an accepted (un-written) rule here... which is just being polite, which the above reference to the moderators is not. If you are not happy with the above, then take your caps (and your attitude) elsewhere. On your water prob... Take your water sample to your LFS... they will test it. If you want a more comnprehensive test, take a sample to a local Uni, or Lab... they will give you a full rundown... but it may cost. Regards, Bill.

Pies asked: Try Electropar in Auckland. They specialise in low speed high torque motors such as Parvalux and ZeroMax. Other possiblility might be Surplustronics at the top of Queen St Auckland. Both have websites Edit: Mmmm... Found the links. http://www.surplustronics.co.nz/shop/ http://www.electropar.co.nz/noflash.cfm How about converting a Venetian Blind mechanism. Just replace the cords with plastic covered wire rope or high grade nylon rope. Bill.
