  1. Oooooh really! Can you post a pic please?
  2. Hmmm.... didn't feed as much as I probably should have in the first 1 week of feeding (was in short supply of BBS) - feeding as much as they can eat now though. Will attach a pic of them tonight
  3. Awesome - yea because when I did my research on the net it said that by 6 weeks you should start to separate them into males and females.... mine are about 8 weeks old and still can't tell the difference yet! lol
  4. Sweet! I better start scouting around for a suitable female then, thanks
  5. Thanks guys, yea he wasn't fully flared when I took the shot... its a good 180 degrees when he decides to show it lol. Not sure what to breed him with though - any suggestions?
  6. Thats handy to know - thanks for that Adrienne. Its really hard to clean the bottom of the tank without squashing a few babies, is there any preferred/easy method of doing this?
  7. Hehe, yea there seems to be a lot of interest in the dragons will keep you posted! I asked hollywood about importing bettas and they seemed happy to bring them in when they put their order thru. I might have a chat to them next weekend regarding importing from thailand... all I know that is is definitely not worth doing it yourself unless you had a spare $800 lying around... MAF certainly doesn't make it easy thats for sure!
  8. I have a dragon (see profile pic...) which I am breeding from. Will be keeping a close eye on his offspring Would love to see an opaque white in NZ... haven't seen one yet!
  9. Thanks guys - he was from Hollywood last weekend. Quite an aggressive little fella though. Has anyone had a spawn where a few of the babies have either one or both eyes missing? Found a few in mine and not sure whether to cull them now or let them keep growing :-?
  10. not sure whether he is green or mustard gas... he looks very different in natural light :-)
  11. Baby thrush?... a lot of fledglings are around our place too... :-)
  12. Hey Adrienne - did any of your giants happen to have a spawn of blue female fighters? Just asking because I bought a blue female from you a while ago and she is HUGE! the biggest (normal) fighter Ive ever seen if she is a normal one... :-) Hard to find a male to match her size lol, will put a pic of her on tonight.
  13. A lot of my first batch did that too... still holding on to 15 though. My second batch have just hatched and the boy is doing a good job of keeping all his children in line, I'd say there's a good 150 bubs at tho mo (I know it won't end up being that many though... oh well, we can only but try :-)
  14. Yay!! Just got another batch of eggs out of my dragon - hopefully a few more survive than my last batch... is it true too much BBS gives your babies swim bladder problems?
  15. Ive only got 15 of mine left too :-( but the ones that are left seem to be doing fine... still a little on the small side though. Frustrating feeling aye!
  16. Congratulations on your new spawn! - I've just started my first spawn too, mine are almost two weeks old now but still quite small. Hope everything goes well for you :-)
  17. I think they are called sand or beach fleas... you find heaps of them on the beaches in summer- some of them get pretty big up to 15mm and they do bite!
  18. Bought my male HM from trademe, he's my pretty boy. lol. But interesting about the treatment 'bettafix' - havn't seen it on the shelves in the local pet store though....
  19. Oh, woops - sorry, I think someone in Auckland is selling them too, a wee bit closer for me to pick up :-)
  20. hi, I think I just bought some off you a few mins ago on trademe - are they hard to get in NZ?
  21. Awesome! Thanks guys, didn't know it was cureable - will give it a try and see how she goes :-)
  22. Hi all, have noticed what looks like cataracts on one of my female fighters... shes in good health otherwise but have noticed the center of her corneas have clouded over. Is there any cure? Cheers Kat
