  1. add population growth, destruction of forests, land used for agricultural farming,eg; the delta system of the Ruzizi river (supplies 50% of salt depoists to the lake) has had a tenfold increase of sedimentation over the last 2 decades. Several species of fish & vertbrates have vanished. Surely murky water would effect algae growth too. The BBC, temp increase of 1.5 degrees is more like 0.6 degrees increase & its over a 80 year period. Results also showed that the upper levels of the lake were still very high/saturation oxygen levels. So if the cichlids of tangy have been around for so many years could they evolve/ adapt again. :-? pollution will kill them first or will it 8) As for commerical fishing they started commerical fishing in 1954, they still take out 120,000 - 200,000 tonnes of fish a year.1983- Plus a question, 8) How come cichlids in tangy can co-exist(so far) with the nile perch??4 known species in the lake. Will we get a boom attack like in lake Victoria, at least there now the perch have turned to cannaballism. Frenchy

I threw the rods away 6 years ago & got into cichlid keeping, then breeding.I still remember setting up the 2 footer for the first time. 2 electric blues & yellows. I have experimented with Africans, asians & americans & currently have. Fronies, red empress, psed aceii, electric blues, mamelleas, syn multis, psed pulu points, burtoni. Still a bit down after clearing out Alto's & other shellies, but easier to look after mouthbrooders. American wise I have Festaes, salvinis, neetroplus, bristlesnose's,a pleco, plus some ghoste knifes. I am interested to here what type of cichlids people are keeping"back home". Cheers to all, Frenchy
