My fry are very spoilt they have a 60x 30x 60 tank and are fed twice daily with bs and mw they love the brine shrimp but only feed them that at night time as have been told if i feed to much they will get dropsy so am very careful. Lucky for me have plenty of time on my hands after my operation .

Just was reading an item on www.bettysplendons.com that she stared jarring the males from a month old she said their growth was faster . Seems a bit to soon my fry are a month old does anyone have any suggestions i was going to move the bigger fry to a grow out tank in a few weeks to give the smaller ones a chance to grow

Thanks everone my first successful spawn since i started back breeding fighters makes up for losing two males and a female hm in 2 days . Looking for some Nice Hm Males and females also thinking of trying some Cts . Have some good grow out tanks so might move the males in another month give the smaller fry a chance to grow.

No the mum is a red and black hm should be some interesting colours

My fry are now a month old so today cleaned out the tank what a chore took me 2 hours but gave a me a chance to count the fry . Their are 60 fry 80 percent of them are males which surprised me hopefully they are as gorgeous as the father who is in my avatar. Will post some pics when they get a bit bigger the males are so much bigger than the females nearly twice the size at a month old i am presumming the bigger ones are the males

Hi Scottie Ph has been a bit high this week between 7.5 and 7.2 i do water changes twice a week havent tested for anything else

Yesterday 2 of my beautilful Hm male Fighters died they were only 4 months old dont know what happened . Tested the water was fine ph normal . So i took the other males out and put them in my other tank cleaned the other tank . Have cleaned the tank and filter will let it cycle for a few weeks before adding any more bettas. Sinbad my lovely Red Flame fighter had babies 3 weeks before he died so at least thats something . First time this has happened yes i expect to lose some bettas now and again but not 2 in one day and ideas would be very much appreciated Thankyou Brett

Thanks John will try using a air line tube used a syringe tis morning and some fry got sucked up just as well i had put the dirty stuff into a container so i could see if i had sucked up any fry. Have a aqua one filter will put it in when the fry are bigger and wont do any water changes for another month at least brett

Yers have a sponge filter slowly bubbling and a airstone to move the water using a syringe will be very time consuming as the tank is 60 x30 x 60 but i guess its the only way to clean it without losing any fry. yes will be selling the fry on Tm when they get older have another spawn with my male Plakat/Hm and his Lover a lovely red flame hm should be some nice fry

I had a spawn of about 150 Red Flame Hms they are a week old now and their tank is getting a bit mucky does anyone have any suggestions on how to clean it . Have been feeding them Liquid fry and microworms the first week think i will put them on BBS this week Thankyou Brett

thanks everyone will use a stocking for the bbs i bought a hatchery the other day very expensive how long to bbs live for i know after 24 hours they lose their goodness. Just would like to know how long u can use them after they hatch

Merry Christmas everyone does anyone have any suggestions on how to feed brine shrimp to fry been looking on the net some people suggest using a strainer and then shake it in the water for the fry to feed on

Thanks everyone that was a big help Like Cams and Sams posts gave some good ideas will go and get some silicone tomorrow adn then get some dividers . Think i will do one tank at a time using one divider for my bettas

Does anyone know how to divide a tank was thinking of seperating my breeding tanks . Would the aquarim shops sell dividers i know my local LFS doesnt although i suppose they could order some. My 2 breeding tanks are 60 x 30 x 30

Animates in Lower Hutt are pretty good i always get special treatment their guess because i am their at least twice a week and always spend a fortune lol . They also order my fighters for me but would much prefer to buy from local breeders and friends on here .

No how you feel same thing happened to my lovely Crowntail male last week one of my hm females jumped over the divider and chewed half his tail of was not happy . She is now quarantined and still in my bad books

On sunday afternoon at 3 oclock my Hms mated just a bit concerned about the eggs they havent hatched yet . The male is tending the nest so thats all good just wondering why its taking so long the temperture is 28 so thats fine anyone got any ideas thankyou Brett

Hi Cam he seems a very lively fish chases the female around tank and she keeps coming back to the cup so their is hope . Will try a yellow lid thankyou and the girl is a ct my mistake .

I have a Ct male and am trying to spawn him with one of my Hm females they have been in tank 2 days released her a few hours ago she is fully striped keeps rubbing against male . But the problem is he wont build a Bubble nest he has a cup but their are only a few bubbles does anyone have any suggestions
