ok so ive heard of this skinny disease in african cichlids ive seen cichlids at peoples house when ive been to buy or just to have a look some of there fish are all boney around there heads they look terrible is this life threating to other fish that are housed with them???? not that i have brought any that are in this condition it sucks that people sell fish like this when they know there fish are infected and still carry on selling them!!!! when most peeps are not aware of the horrible disease :evil: and take these infected fish home and add them to there healthly tanks!!!!!!! i know to always put my new ones i buy in a holding tanking by them selfs for 2 weeks before adding them to my healthly tanks but not everyone knows to do that :roll: does anyone know of this disease :-? :-?

eeekkk yuk i was making a coffee the other night and was just about to pour the boiling hot water when i seen a white tail spider crawling across my hand i dropped the coffee everywhere freaked out it was a big one to lucky for me it didnt bite me

hmm ok i thought about giving her a gentle squeeze but she quite big might have to get the other half to hold her so is there a certain way to squeeze....

i did wonder my self to think shes egg bound her tummy is rather large and where her tube is looks like somethings kinda hanging out her tube could there be something blocking her tube :-? i had a look and it seems to be abit raw with redish blood this is what happened last time and after a day of trying to spawn her tube goes away and she still has the full belly and eats per normal!!!!! if she is egg bound what should i do or is there anything i can do :-?

yes no eggs at all!!!! and yes i watch i entire spawning they are in my 700litre with a breeding group of red empress and yellows theres no cross breeding at all.. should i put them in a tank of there own to see what happens? when i brought the group from up north the last owners said there was one male and 3 females which ended up being 2 males and 2 females!!!! so i re-homed the other male and i have a new female that i joined to the group shes the smallest but it was one of the bigger females that tryed spawning and her tube has come out but no eggs both times!!!! would a

anyone!!!!!!

i have a female venustus shes fully grown id say shes about 18-19cm and my males around the 22cm mark they have spawned twice since ive had them the owner before me said she has had hundreds of fry before, both times her tube has come out and they seem to be spawning but shes not laying any eggs she looks like shes got a full belly and shes in great health any ideas :-? please

agreed there i must say organism do have very good quality fish and good range we are down one lfs in christchurch poor old critter kingdom is closing down!!!!

depends on what fish your wanting to buy where i find the africans at organism are over priced redwoods great bobs great not alot of africans though... but alot of community fish

hows it all going??? just measured our tank its 70cm wide and 71cm high and 150cm long all made of 10mm glass with support braces we made it our selfs i also spoke to my partner and if your interested he can get cheap 10mm glass let me know if your keen but ill catch ya tomo anyways

what other fish are housed with her? and how long has she been holding for? we normally strip our yellows as they get hassled by other fish and they end up spitting if shes not getting hassled than she should be sweet staying where she is :bounce: :bounce: also if you try catching her she may end up spitting to :roll: its up to you
