  1. i'm guessing the $60 to $80 tin of BBS eggs is from one of the guys here right? last i heard it was a one pound tin of the stuff. but yeah you're right... $60 to $80 for a full year supply of BBS is nothing... and i've no idea where lake grassmere is... T.T
  2. true.... i totally forgot about the SW feature of BS... darn... so would it still be possible for BS to be reared to produce BBS? or would it just be too much work for too little value?
  3. Ok I've heard alot of people using brine shrimp eggs to hatch BBS to feed fry... I'm assuming that BBS can also be used as live food for adult guppies. Will BS be able to survive in the same aquatic conditions as guppies? If they do, are they a good organic filter for the food that falls to the bottom of the tank? Will it be possible to leave BS in the tank to breed and release BBS? Ta!
  4. 4 females per male?!?!?!?!?! OMG!!!!! isn't that too much? also i've been reading about genetics and the attempts to create a strain of pure guppies... it says that i've to separate them according to the generations so i don't get mixed up... doesn' that mean that i'll need 2 tanks for each generation of fry?!?!?!?!? >.< 4 females to a male... gosh.... yeah i was thinking about the mesh as well.. otherwise up goes the fry... i was thinking of using real small stones coz i've heard that if u use sand it can get stirred up and like the fry can get sucked up into your filter and cause you endless grief. so if i went for 1-3mm stones i'm pretty much sweet and the plants will b ok to propagate right? thanks guys.

ouch.... looks like i'll have to start off my commercial breeding smaller than i thought then.. LOL jokes... but yeah i'll definitely be looking at the grey markets and such for the equipment. not too fussed about the warranties though since i grew up there and warranties there are literally non-existent...

Hey guys, thanks for the warm welcome. I was thinking of getting the equipment from Malaysia as stuff in Asian countries appear to be cheaper. Wondering how hard it would be if I wanted to import fishes from there as well though...
  7. I've been reading up on a number of books about how to start an aquarium etc etc and they said to have gravel for the base of the aquarium and plant plants there. Now when we're talking about gravel are we talking about tiny stones or almost sandlike stones? Also, if i'm going to be breeding guppies, what kind of filters / aerators should i get? thanks guys.

Hey there guys, Was very interested as a kid in fishes and breeding them but never really knew about the conditions and stuff. Decided to pick up a new hobby and decided to go for fishes and breeding them. Thinking of starting off with some hardy fishes and guppies are my 1st choice coz of their colour and beauty. Hope to pick up some really good tips from you experienced breeders and looking forward to finding a home that will allow me to finally have my own aquarium room haha. As of right now, equipment = 0. Thinking of buying the majority of them overseas when I go travelling in 3 months time. Probably cheaper than here.
