I'm thinking of building a sump for one of my larger tanks, and due to problems that can happen with power cuts, I was wondering if anyone had tryed using a ballcock in the sump to stop the water draining if the power goes off?
Can anyone see any problems with doing this?
Yea I got it off the beach by the Aquarium, is that good or bad? It was great to meet everyone down there, and thanks for a great weekend, can you also pass on our thanks to Scotty and the rest of your members for putting on a good weekend.
I found some driftwood on the beach that I thought would look great in one of my tanks. Can somone tell me what should I do to it to make it safe to to put in a tank?
World of Water in Hamilton is a great place to stop, if you are near there. Great service, advice and they even make and repair tanks on site at good prices. It pays to go early in the month if you want fish because they seem to get them in early each month then run there stock down. Great specials on plants to.
If in Tauranga try Animal Antics or Kiwipetz for great service.
If you go to palmers garden centre, you can buy an aquatic soil. This is the sort used in ponds, but also works great in tanks, and wont harm you fish. Well mine are happy with it, an so do the plants, its also very cheap.
You could try going to your local enginering company (just about every town has one) with your measurement and a rough plan, they will give you a quote and be happy to make it for you.
:bounce: :bounce: Guess that helps, pretty sure have 1 of each, and they are about 6 years old and getting them from someone down the road that had them as pets for there children but no longer has the time for them.
I have a pair of Pearl Gouramis that have breed once before (about 4 months ago). Missy is once again showing all the signs of being ready again, be Mr isn't interested. We have tryed different temps, water changes, and even different tanks. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get his libido restarted?
I have had 3 lots arrive safe using NZ Couriers, and have rung them each time first thing in the morning for a delivery time, and delivery has been within 10 min of the time I was told, and all were delivered before 10am
I was afraid you were going to say that. Someone said that nail polish remover can break it down. Has anyone tryed it? If not then Oh well, sounds like it might have to be the hard way.
I have an old tank that has some cracks at one end below the waterline. Are there any chemicals that will breakdown the old silicone so that I can reuse the glass to make a smaller tank?
I have recently get a new (secondhand) tank that came with both an external and large internal filter, both of which have carbon inside them. How can you tell when the carbon needs to be replaced? The filter I'm using is an Aqua One AT882
Thats what I thought because it wasn't looking the best before the move. It wasn't as active as the others. I must admit it was a worrying time packing them up and moving so far. I know people send them by courier all round the country with no problem, but doing the whole thing myself and not having tanks setup for them to go straight into had me really worried.
