  1. got you Just standard peebles/gravel. Trouble is when we bought the set up and peebles etc we were planning on just moving our goldfish into it. But last minute after it was all set up decided to try tropical's, would like to use a different colour/type of gravel at the bottom now...guess thats too late!
  2. Havent noticed the change of colour..they sure like zipping about tho! And certainly havent seen them bother the neons, even when we just had 3 last week. Yep apart from the first 24-48 hours not had any fish loses (touch wood!)
  3. Cheers, dont know the specs off hand bu the light is quite bright. Twin tubed, certainly lights up the tank very well! Brought the first lot of plants, the leafy ones, green and purple/red a week ago. The smaller ones over the weekend. Get the odd leaf floating around which i pull out, dont seem to be dying as yet.
  4. Hi, got the new tank up and running and have planted a few small plants already. I have pics in the Freshwater forum. Just wondering if i should be adding something to the water to help them along?
  5. Sweet, liked to get more plants, inspired by the awesome tanks ive seen on here.
  6. Later ill love a BN, still keen to get a couple Loaches, either the Clown or Khlue (sp) Spotted this amazing fish yesterday, Ice Zebra i think...really bright cool blue colour..medium sized fish
  7. Cheers, going to change the background too, maybe a plain blue or black

  9. Ok hope this works, heres a few pics. Early days, still setting it up, but pleased with how its coming together...so far!
  10. Yup, went to that store "Hollywood fish farms" in Tawa drive. great to go to a proper aquarium shop instead of the usual pet shop with the aquarium just part of it. Some stunning fish there i hadnt seen before.

  15. How long to i would need the likes of a bristlenose to start work on the algae? Really please all the fish have survived another night Considering adding another few neons, to get their numbers up.
  16. Ive been using this one for a while http://www.mp3fiesta.com/
  17. Awesome will do. The tigers seem to be enjoying themselves, chasing each other round the tank. Seem to be ignoring the neons at the moment..
  18. Introduced 7 neons week and half ago, 4 died within a day or so, since then no problems. added 5 more fish yesterday as well. Would like eventually a silver shark, couple more tiger barbs (great looking fish, love how they zip around the tank), and some loaches..
  19. Just got home and they are still all alive!
  20. Cheers, yep since the tank was set up the lights have been left on all day everyday (7am - 6-7pm) There are some stunning planted tanks on display here.
  21. Was tempted to grab some lastnight as well to join the other neons. Maybe a split of the two latter down the track? Added some plants as well, a selection of cheap plants from animates. No idea their names as they didnt have any shown. Any hints as how to help them grow and generally stay alive, just a matter of sticking them in the gravel and leave them to it?
  22. One thing that concerns me is the fish hanging around the filter, i have one of those boxy shaped Fluval ones, theres a gap between it and the tank of only a few mil's and i often see them swimming between it and the glass. I lost about 4 neons last week, vanished. Only when i adjusted the filter (ie took it out of the tank) did they all appear floating up to the surface. I can only assume they were trapped in and around it. Just wondering if this is normal behavior and something i really cant do anything about.
