  1. It will be darker though because i have black oxide to mix with it. and it looks even more like rock being darker
  2. ive done a test on the concrete texture. looks good Its a 4ft tank. 400ltrs and ive just found a small power head that will fit in there
  3. ok ive been thinking. What if i put an air stone in the back where the heaters go and it will create a flow past the heaters...?
  4. unless someone wants to come and seal it in my tank for me....?
  5. I'm starting to think the background isn't such a good idea. I want a tank where nothing can go wrong and as easy to look after as possible. As awesome as it would look i don't think I'm going to put it in the tank However it may find itself in it one day
  6. its going to be a cichlid tank. Yes i was thinking about a power head somewhere behind the poly
  7. Yes ados aerosols work well too. A4 i think its called. Ok so ive got my tank made for this background now and talked to LFS about my background etc. This is what they had to say... -They don't recommend the background as its a breeding ground for bad bacteria. -I will probably end up cooking my heaters in behind it. -There wont be enough water current in there the way ive got the spray bar. -and ill never be able to keep fish in the tank if i use concrete. I agree about not enough water current as i do need a decent filter but ive gotta save up for one yet. And i haven't finished cutting out the gap for the heaters yet. Any advise or thoughts anyone...?
  8. some people use gorilla glue. but i used good old hot glue gun  Because im too impatient to wait for glue to dry. Although hot glue melts poly, it didn't melt mine as the stuff i used is harder smaller beaded poly. was a lot easier to work with than normal white poly.
  9. The ac wire is what your looking for. Nissan primera lol i did a head unit change in one last week. The ac wire should either be a red or orange wire. use the multimeter to test, put earth on metal frame of car and use red end to test wires. Should read just over 12 volts when keys are on and 0 volts when keys are off. test the wires until you find the right one.
  10. Ive cut the spaces for the spray bar, intake pipe and heaters I plan to have the gap under the poly for the intake pipe and heater to be under the level of gravel to keep the fish out. Does anyone have any ideas on this and if it will work well for filtration etc. i Just don't want the fish going in there and getting stuck(will be ok when they are too big to fit in the gap) Ive also gone over the entire thing with a heat gun and it has made it very hard and stable ready to receive a coat of concrete if i get round to it this weekend
  11. Ok i dont think i have enough money for any T5s. I might just get some T8s. Thanks
  12. ROFLMAO thats awesome. i want those drawings, would look good on my wall hilarious
  13. 8) Thanks everyone I finished my studies last year
  14. I need to know what to sort of light i need when i go into the shop to buy one so i don't look like i don't know what im talking about  I need lighting for a 4ft cichlid tank, 600mm deep good enough for growing val, dwarf sag and java fern. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks
  15. I will try The following shows where ive put caves and tunnels in blue, red up top right is where water comes from filter and red at bottom is gap under poly that goes to compartment that holds two heaters and filter outlet. the gap underneath poly will have gravel right up over it to prevent fish from getting in there. but water will still flow through gravel. any ideas on this idea or better way i would go about it? not very good job but paint is all i know how to use lol.
  16. Yes thats what im going to use as well, but im thinking about painting a little on it too. I know you can get colour oxides to mix in with the concrete but i feel i can control paint a bit better. WEKA, im interested to know how long it took to clean it before it was fish safe and how you went about it? Im still detailing it a bit better before i start covering it. I always have to have things perfect and every time i look at it i find something else wrong with it Im trying for as natural look as possible
  17. I'm not following any instructions, ive just done research on the net about it and just gone from there with my own ideas. Its easier to start off with heaps of different tools to find out which works best for you to give the effect you want. Ive started using a fork now to do finer details of rock shapes to get a more natural look. When ive finished i will try to get step by step instructions put together including pictures if any one is interested...?
  18. I guess it was the bluntness of it that gave the ripping at it technique. scraping and digging.
  19. I found it pretty easy to do and could easily make another if i had the poly.
  20. Yes it will be when i get around to covering it and putting it in the tank i spent another hour on it after work today and put 2 hidey holes and another cave Hard to see in pics
