how did you get yourfra,me closeenoughto the siodes for the fry not to get throuhgh? I tried that but had trouble closing all the gaps. What did you use for your frame?

you need some medication immediately! I think Melafix will do it, otherwise a trip to your Pet shop is imperative!

not surewhat is wrong with the gourami. He got the fungus on his head but it looked aws though it was eating away the flesh. The fungus has gone, colouring is coming back but there appears to be a bit of skin still sticking up. Don't know why, the other fish are fine, but he got a bit hassled by one of the other fish so maybe it was stress

does anyone have preference for either Tonic or Melafix as a general medication? I used Tonic for the fluffy fungus but it returned on stopping treatment even though there was no sign on the fish.

mine is a mixture of grey, white, and orange - I guess that qualifies as 'fruit salad'? Ph gets up to about 7.6 which the LFS said was way too high. What thoughts on that for a community tank?

I have gravel, three pieces of wood, two having java moss growing on them, and some terracot pieces providing caves. Do any of these have a changed on the PH?

I am on roof water which seewms to stay fairly constant so I need to put in one dose of PH Down at each water change to keep my tank water ok. However I was away for 4 days during which time a Dwarf Gourami died and the PH level went pretty high. It was only a week since I had done a water change. What kind of things can alter the PH level like that?

i just went to Payless Plastics and bought small containers with tight snap on lids! cost less than .60c. I presume they will be ok in an airtight situation for a dasy or so?

yes, we did discuss it LB but what I am wondering is why he picks on one g. and leaves the otrher one alone?

I presume then that the other fish would be eating any eggs off the java moss in the tank that the minnows would be laying their eggs on?

I know it looks a lot of fish, but if you don't count the long tail on the sword they are all only about an inch with possibly the gouramis a bit more because they have the rounder body. I lost some neons at the beginning when I had fewer fish, but any water tests at the LFS have had all the levels being fine.

ok i definitely don't have the space for that kind of a set up! May just have to resort to males for their looks!

i have a smallish lemon gourami living at peace with my swordtails but the second I returned my blue dwarg g. to the maintank after being in isolation, both swordtails ( male) started seriously heckling him. Is it the colour or what? He is a little bigger than the lemon one but not a lot.

are "White Cloud Mountain Minnows" the same thing as Mountain Minnows? Are they easy to breed?

my tank is only 750x300x300 and I have in it 3 swordtails, 2 dwarf gouramis , 1 siamese fighter, 2 neon tetras, 2 bristlenose 5 mountain minnows, 2 harlequinns 1 kuhli loach and 1 skunk fish. Question- how many more and if what breeds could I put in ?

are Honey Gouramis a different branch to Blue Dwarfs or just lemon coloured Blue Dwarfs? Are Blue Dwarfs only blue or in different colours?

ok, when i was showing my Staffy there was a 'standard' he was judged on. Is it just colouring with fish because I'm sure its not flavour!
