  8. [quote="Southerrrngirrl" I used to work for the Mental Health Department at SDHB. Not as a nurse but just a receptionist/admin officer. quote] No-ones ever a 'just' Surgeons couldn't do fancy operations on people if the cleaner didn't clean the theatre properly

I currently work in the 'long term residential' area so heaps of physical health stuff as well as mental health stuff. LOVE my job and the trust I work for. 10. I've used the pond liners from Bunnings and warehouse, but they don't survive our frosts and develop slow, really annoying leaks that you cant find or repair. I've resorted to liners from the Water garden on Blenheim Rd which really aren't too much more expensive and one in the fish pond lasted about 10 yrs with no leaks and was moved twice. ( until I removed the pond due to Leeches in the plants.) The 2 turtle ones are new but great. The liners are UV and frost and tree root resistant...but you look really funny standing in a metre deep hole with a huge black liner over your head trying to spread it out  Also good to line the hole first with old carpet or underlay or that fake grass or similar as makes the liner sit well and reduces risk of accidental tears. Also I had a guy here from CCC 2 wks ago who said our water level depth for a pond didn't matter, otherwise they'd have to fence all the public fountains and stuff...
  11. I'm currently running 2 turtle tanks, the one inside against a wall away from any direct sun light never goes green, but the one in the conservatory which is same size as other, with same light /filter system starts to green on glass within days of cleaning. The one inside usually has 1 or 2 more turtles in it too. So for my tanks I know its definately the sunlight aspect. I've just popped the Pleco in the conservatory one so hopefully she'll help keep it clean, otherwise I'll just have to keep wiping off the glass and doing more frequent water changes.
  12. I know that with the SPCA down here, if anyone has a concern about an animal/fish/reptile in a pet shop, then they can ph SPCA and lay an 'official' complaint. That means an inspecter 'has' to go to the shop and check it out. Also they dont have all the info/expertise on every reptile etc available, as very rarely deal with them compared to other more 'common' animals. So If I phoned and said this turtle in this shop has...blah blah and should have blah blah instead... then they can go with that info and check it out and the shop needs to rectify it and inspecter will follow up. If I phone with an 'unofficial' complaint, I can again say...this turtle/reptile needs...blah blah and they put it on their books and next time an inspecter goes past that shop, they will call in and again check it out based on the info given by the person laying complaint. Naturally the organisation will be dependent on the person answering the phone and how they respond to what you say. As with anything, some people are easier then others to deal with...I hope you get the situation sorted out. Sounds awful!
