Thanks Ian I definately wont be getting any more fish until the amonia and nitrite settle down! I wasnt sure wether the algae would harm the fish or not but obviously it doesnt so I wont worry about it until I get some bristlenoses! Hayley :bounce:

I am now officially guppyless! Unfortunately the amonia and nitrite shot up over night and I was unable to do a water change before I had to go to school so I came home to a dead guppy! :-? I am now going to focus my undivided attention to making sure my widows survive! I may not get the bristlenose this weekend if the amonia and nitrite are to high but the tank is beginning to get really dirty and there is lots of algae around so im hoping that things have balanced out by then so the bristlenoses can do their job! I will not be making the mistake of getting the fish if the tank is not ready! Thanks I had cleaned out the message box before the messages were sent but I still didnt get them! I will try to sort it out! :-? I have bought a heater for the small tank that my now only one remaining guppy and he is doing fine and has eaten! I hope he will be OK! Hayley :bounce:

Hey Mark do you know what I should do with my guppies (read question above)

Sorry cant the fish I have bought have already bitten of the tails off my guppies so I dont want to risk any more long tailed fish but thenks for the offer anyway! For the reason above I have put the guppies in my small tank but it has no heater so I just want to know whether they will survive in there or not!(Fingers-crossed) If they wont I dont know what I will do as I cant risk putting them in with with the widows again! Can I leave the guppies? If not what do I do? Hayley

OMG One of my guppies has had his tail nipped off so I have separated the 2 species by outting a largish container in the top of the tank with the guppies in it until I can get something sorted out! I may set up my other little tank and put the guppies in there or maybe I will have to give the tetras back! :roll: I didnt know the tetras would attack the guppies like this straight away! :oops: I feel so sorry for the poor guppies they are scared out of their little fins!!! Thought I would just tell you all that you were right and I will have to sort out the tetras in the morning! Hayley

dimebag I have done heaps research on all of the fish I am getting but most sites didnt really say alot about breeding of these fish so I thought I would just ask and I dont think I will worry about spawning right now like you said!!! Hayley :bounce:

thanks dimebag I wont worry about adjusting the ph any more! about an hour ago I bought 5 young Black Widow Tetras and ever since then the little guppy seems to be doing a lot better! :-? Also one of the fish the man at the shop gave me is really really fat and my mum and I think she is pregnant as she does not seem to be sick in any way, so now I have more questions on how to look after the pregnant female and her young! So here it goes: 1)How do I tell when she is going to drop her eggs? 2)Where do Black Widows drop their eggs? 3)How should I look after the eggs? (should I put the female in a breeding trap before she drops the eggs so that they wont be eaten? 4)What should I feed the fry when they are born (if they survive)? I also have a question about how well the BWT and Guppies will get along as I have already caught one of my other female BWT chasing one of my guppies around (Im guessing to nip his tail!) Everyone please HELP ME!!! One of my red guppies is now looking in very very big trouble he is hardly swimming and floating most of the time!! One of my other guppies has been following him and nudging him when he got either too close to the gorund or stopped swimming but I think he has given up! I dont know whats wrong with him and he doesnt look like hes going to survive much longer so please HELP ME save my fish! I really dont want to loose another one!!! What do I do? :-? Should I let nature take its course or save him some how or just keep him swimming and hope for the best??? Im really stressing so please HELP!!! Hayley P.S. I tested every thing and the results are as following PH: 7.2 but after ph down 7.0 Amonia:0.6 Nitrite:0.1 G Hardness: 90

Thanks adodge Im pretty sure the bubbles wont be in the picture seening as I only noticed the bubbles 3 days ago and I took that photo about 1 and 1/2 months ago but I would say it is holes in the ornament!!! The anchor is decorated with little barnacle things well i thing thats what there called! :lol: Loopy im pretty sure all of my guppies are male as that is what i was told in the shop and they are very colourful! I will have a feel of the bubbles tomorrow when I change the water as the water will be shallower then!! Thanks Hayley :bounce:

Thanks Ian The others look fine at the moment but I will definately be watching them closely over the next few days!!! I was thinking of getting a new fish with the same colouration as him because I really loved him and his colours! I was thinking of getting him tommorrow! Thanks dimebag I have tested my ammonia and nitrite and stuff the day before last but I dont remember what they said and I will test them again tonight! What is considered a dangerous level? :-? I will be fillling up my special fish bucket tonight with tap water and letting it sit over night before changing 25-30% of the water tomorrow! Does this sound right? How do I know if I am over feeding them? All the food seems to dissapear within about a minute or two!!! Thanks Hayley

Thanks adodge I will watch the others very closely and will tell you if they show any other signs!!! The white spots I think are just part of the fishes colour (possibly, not 100% sure) because there are no more spots but they haven't gone away either and I dont think any of the other fish have any spots like his!!! :-? And my mum says she thinks he was old to because he was bigger then the others and I was thinking maybe when he was given to the shop (or whatever happens :lol: ) he was from a previous spawn or was even the father to the others or something!!! What do you think??? Do you think maybe he was a bit older and the change between tanks kinda pushed him over the edge!!! Its such a shame as he was a beuatiful fish and I really liked him even though I had only had him for a couple of days!!! Like you said another possibility is the others bullying him but I think it is unlikely because they seemed to stay out of his way probably because he was bigger then them!! Yes the ornament is from Hollywood Fish Farm and suitable for an aqaurium I dont know if the bubbles are any where else but it is certainly not obvious but the anchor is the main object apart from the fish in the tank so I guess thats why I noticed it and the anchor is the biggest thing in the tank which again is proably why I noticed but yes Im sure the anchor can go in!!! And I know that running the tank empty will do nothing and now I have the guppies so they are my starter fish!!! Thanks Hayley :bounce:
